During the 2016 election cycle and well into Donald Trump’s presidency, Democrats, liberals, and the media had accused Donald Trump of Russian collusion to win the 2016 race.
When the allegations were investigated by Robert Mueller, they came up empty.
Uri Berliner, a Senior Business Editor for the government-sponsored NPR outlet, has finally admitted that they swung and missed big on that story.
Buyer’s Remorse
Remember when Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who is currently leading a Senate race in California for the seat formerly held by the late Senator Dianna Feinstein (D-CA), stood before Americans and told them he had absolute proof of Russian collusion?
Remember when everyone chastised Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) for saying he had proof of FISA abuse?
As it turned out, Nunes was the one telling the American people the truth, and Schiff was proven to be a complete liar.
Berliner is now expressing regret for having bought into Schiff’s narrative and reporting what he said as fact.
Berliner recently penned an op-ed on this, stating, “As in many newsrooms, his election in 2016 was greeted at NPR with a mixture of disbelief, anger, and despair. But what began as tough, straightforward coverage of a belligerent, truth-impaired president veered toward efforts to damage or topple Trump’s presidency.”
His post continued on, expressing regret for having “hitched our wagon” to Schiff.
He continued, “Schiff, who was the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, became NPR’s guiding hand, its ever-present muse. By my count, NPR hosts interviewed Schiff 25 times about Trump and Russia.
“During many of those conversations, Schiff alluded to purported evidence of collusion. The Schiff talking points became the drumbeat of NPR news reports.”
He conceded that Mueller’s investigation found “no credible evidence” to support the claims by Schiff, calling it a “swing and a miss on a major story.”
While I love the fact that he came clean, what is going to happen to Schiff? The man has been outright lying to the American people on a daily basis, and he is about to get rewarded with a six-year seat in the Senate unless Republican and former major leaguer Steve Garvey can defeat him in the election, a tall order when you consider the saturation of Democrats in California.
Perhaps NPR should start blowing up headlines about Adam Schiff’s lies the way it did Trump to properly inform its readers and maybe, just maybe, prevent Schiff from being elected as the new California Senator.
