Florida Governor Ron DeSantis found himself in a legal situation.
It took Democrats by surprise.
A grand jury just forced Ron DeSantis to take this drastic action.
Governor DeSantis announced the suspension of four members of the Broward County School Board following a grand jury report about the tragedy in Parkland where a deranged lunatic murdered 17 innocents at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.
“It is my duty to suspend people from office when there is clear evidence of incompetence, neglect of duty, misfeasance or malfeasance,” a statement from DeSantis read.
DeSantis suspended Patricia Good, Donna Korn, Ann Murray and Laurie Rich Levinson – all Democrats – from the school board following a 122-page grand jury report detailing alleged corruption and incompetence that led to the shooting.
Levinson ranted about the suspension to CNN.
“What country is this? What Governor DeSantis did is un-American and undemocratic. He doesn’t care about democracy and overturned the will of the voters,” Levinson exclaimed.
Levinson baselessly claimed the suspension was politically motivated.
“This is all about political retribution for not firing Superintendent Runcie. It’s about blaming the Superintendent, and any school board members who supported him, for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting. All four board members were elected by the people multiple times, including post tragedy. My heart will always go out to all the families and community,” Levinson added.
“Because you may disagree on local policy decisions is not a reason to remove someone from elected office…. This action is authoritarian-like and has no place in the United States of America where the voters decide who represents them,” Levinson added.
But DeSantis stood on firm legal ground.
The grand jury’s mission was to “examine four issues, including whether public entities and school officials committed fraud and deceit by mismanaging funds devoted to school safety.”
The grand jury discovered school board negligence towards safety measures that would have prevented deaths.
In the report the grand jury “found a safety-related alarm which might have saved lives at the high school in Parkland ‘was and is such a low priority that it remains uninstalled at multiple schools.’”
The report also pointed out the school board neglected the needs of the students.
According to the findings “students continue to be educated in unsafe, aging, decrepit, moldy buildings that were supposed to have been renovated years ago.”
Ron DeSantis made it his mission to remake Florida school boards to make sure parents could count on their elected officials to implement policies banning grooming children into transgenderism or brainwashing them with critical race theory.
In the latest elections 25 out of 30 DeSantis-backed candidates won ensuring that school boards across the state would respect parents’ rights and maintain a focus on education and not woke indoctrination.
Democrats were furious that Governor DeSantis suspended four left-wing ideologues.
But a grand jury report outlined the incompetence and negligence at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School giving DeSantis no choice but to remove them for the good of the students.
