Mandisa, a soulful gospel artist who got her start way back in 2006 on “American Idol” has passed away, according to a statement on her social media.
There are almost zero details regarding her death at the time of writing other than it’s been confirmed that she’s passed away.
Mandisa was 47-years-old.
“We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details,” the post on her social media account reads. “We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world.”
Mandisa reportedly resided in Nashville at the time of her death.
She studied vocal jazz at American River College and then attended Fisk University.
She auditioned for “American Idol” in 2005 and ended up as a contestant on the sixth season, which aired in 2006.
Rest in peace, Mandisa.
