The President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and his spouse were welcomed with a military ceremony on Thursday in the Lion Court of the Buda Castle. The Chinese President arrived in Budapest last night.
President Tamás Sulyok, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, their spouses and government members greeted Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, on the second day of their visit to Hungary on Thursday, 9 May in the Lion Court.
Xi Jinping and Tamás Sulyok reviewed the Guard of Honour of the Hungarian Defence Forces, the National Horse Guard Honorary Unit, and the hussars of the Count Ferenc Nádasdy Hussar Regiment.
After the military ceremony, Xi Jinping and his entourage headed to the Sándor Palace, where Tamás Sulyok officially welcomed the Chinese President on his official visit.
Peng Liyuan, accompanied by Zsuzsanna Nagy, the wife of the President, visited the Hungarian Heritage House, among other cultural programmes.
The Chinese President is staying in Hungary until Friday on a state visit commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
