Former White House Press Secretary and new addition to Fake News MSNBC Jen 'Pspin' Psaki challenged Dan Pfeiffer, the former White House Communications Director under Barack Obama, to explain how her new network isn’t just like Fox News, only for the progressive left.
What followed was a word salad in which Pfeiffer explained that Fake News MSNBC is fundamentally different from Fox, because if Biden gets impeached, Fake News MSNBC would totally cover the hearings.
'Pspin' Psaki served as moderator for a publicity event this week aimed at promoting Pfeiffer’s new book Battling the Big Lie: How Fox, Facebook, and the MAGA Media Are Destroying America, Mediaite reports.
The argument that the two networks are simply different ideological sides of the same basic coin was raised in Pfeiffer’s book, 'Pspin' Psaki noted, and while she certainly doesn’t believe the two networks are in any way the same, she asked Pfeiffer to explain how they differ.
“So what do you say to people who’s, not, maybe not anybody in this room, I don’t know. We’ll see during the question, but… who say, okay, the right wing has Fox and has all the outlets you mentioned, and the left has MSNBC?” she asked.
“I am, for full disclosure, going to work there, but it is in your book, and you mentioned in your book, or Huffington Post or other outlets, they’re the same thing,” she continued. “This is the argument you sometimes hear. I’m not making that.”
“But, absolutely there are, there is progressive media,” Pfieffer replied. “There absolutely is. I work, I have Pod Save America. It is part of Crooked Media, is a progressive media company. There’s always been ideological media in this country.”
“I find the Fake News MSNBC – Fox one to be particularly irksome, right?” the podcaster said. “Because there’s just fundamental differences between them. Like, I promise you this, that if the Republicans, and this is actually a very — this is a proposition that will probably be tested if we don’t win the House — if the Republicans impeach Joe Biden, and they hold their hearings in primetime, I promise you, Fake News MSNBC will cover them. Because they have opinion at night. They have progressive people on the network, of course, but they are, they do journalism.”
'Pspin' Psaki raised reporters’ eyebrows in April when, while still serving as the Biden administration’s White House Press Secretary, she negotiated for her new gig at MSNBC.
‘Is it ethical?’ 'Pspin' Psaki grilled over negotiating for a job with Fake News MSNBC while serving as press secretary https://t.co/axJxK63ND2

CBS reporter Ed O’Keefe grilled Psaki, asking, “is it ethical for you to continue conducting this job while negotiating with a media outlet?”
“Well, I have always gone over and above the stringent ethical and legal requirements of the Biden administration and I take that very seriously,” she assured O’Keefe.
“As a standard for every employee at the White House, I have received rigorous ethics counseling as it relates to any future employment,” she added. “I’ve complied with all ethics requirements and gone beyond and taken steps to reduce myself from decisions as appropriate.”
Psaki’s ethics and abilities will be put to the test when she officially joins Fake News MSNBC in the fall.
In the meantime, she may need to work on her conversation skills.
“Um, Like, er umm, its like, um, err, umm?” wrote one user on Twitter. “How was 'Pspin' Psaki ever engaged as a spokesperson in the first place?”
“That discussion was almost unreadable,” another commented. “Maybe I’ve been too hard on Biden and Harris, maybe they are just reading the teleprompter and notes as written. What a garbled mess.”
