With consumer inflation at 8.3% and gas set to surpass $5.00 per gallon (and already there in a number of states), the U.S. Treasury Department should be in crisis mode, but instead, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is talking about something that has nothing to do with the economy–“Pride Month,” The Daily Wire reported.
“For the first time in our history, Treasury is displaying the Pride Flag to express our solidarity with LGBTQ+ Americans during Pride Month,” Yellen announced on Thursday in a tweet. The department “remains committed to diversity, equity, and equal opportunity for all,” she added.

Only a year and a half into Biden’s presidency, the economy had its first shrinking quarter, the Daily Wire pointed out. The economy contracted by 1.5%, and if that trend continues next quarter, we will be in a recession.
Increases hurting real people
And it’s one thing to throw around numbers, but the extent of the increases in basic items like food and gas actually exceeds the published numbers in many cases.
Real people’s lives are being profoundly affected by the economic situation Biden has created, and the Treasury is ignoring these realities in favor of a rainbow flag.
When Daily Wire reporter Ben Zeisloft spoke to residents of West Philadelphia, they said they were cutting back on driving and other activities because of the sharp increases in food and gas.
“They have to do something to lower the prices, so we can enjoy the way we were before,” Iliassou Koukpelerou, whose gas costs went from $30 a week to $100 even though he drives a hybrid car. “People don’t have money in their pockets anymore.”
“I drive to work and I go home. And anything else in between, I try to do it as I’m going home from work,” Art Walker commented about his commute from Delaware to his job as a maintenance worker. “It’s just too expensive.”
Tax on Americans
The people of West Philadelphia, where the median income is $25,857, and other low-income areas are being hardest hit by inflation, which is nothing more than a tax on the American people.
When it takes more of our money to buy the same necessities, it is the same as having less money.
In a real sense, the Biden administration has robbed the American people under the guise of helping them with government programs, which never deliver what they promise. But as long as the rainbow flag is up, we are supposed to ignore these failures and appreciate the Treasury’s commitment to “diversity, equity, and equal opportunity for all.”
