America’s Governor took Hamas sympathizers and complicit President Joe Biden to task with a stark contrast of how harassment is handled in the Freedom State.
Before Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, the timing of the Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel had made his response part of the national conversation. Now, after the Jewish state fended off an attack from Iran’s Islamist regime and antisemitic furor intensified at liberal universities, the conservative statesman reiterated that it was time for “repercussions” and “the behavior will change.”
Fielding questions Monday after announcing further investments toward the restoration of Florida’s Everglades, DeSantis was asked about the protests on the campus of his own alma mater Yale.
“If I were in charge, I would send the Justice Department after those universities because this is unacceptable to have this type of antisemitism where — it’s not just bad speech, they’re really targeting Jewish students; it’s a hostile environment and violates the civil rights of those students,” the governor stated. “And these universities — they just aren’t willing to do what needs to be done…I can tell you this, in Florida, at our state universities, you know, there’s a code of conduct.”
“You have a right to protest. You don’t have a right to harass other people. You don’t have a right to put a target on someone’s back based on their religion or ethnicity, and if you’re doing those things, you’re gonna be shown the door,” declared DeSantis.

Like had occurred at New York’s Columbia University days earlier, cops had stepped in early Monday to clear away the defiant anti-Israel protesters amid an ever-increasing climate of hate that had brought faith leaders to warn Jewish students to remain off campus for their own safety.
In October, when the rotgut across academia had surfaced to show its support for the savagery that had been wrought against men, women and children in Israel, DeSantis had unequivocally decried the terrorist sympathizers.
“When the blood wasn’t even dry on the Israelis who had been massacred, you had people in America going out protesting in favor of Hamas! And that’s like, very chilling,” he expressed at an event in Iowa before specifying, “Some of these people are not U.S. citizens; they’re student visas. So, as president, if you’re on a student visa and you’re a foreigner and you’re out there celebrating terrorism, I’m canceling your visa and I’m sending you home.”

On Monday, DeSantis re-upped that position and further called for the expulsion of American students who violated campus codes of conduct.
“Right now in higher education, particularly in those schools up there, the inmates run the asylum….the minute there’s repercussions, you will start to see a change in behavior,” he said.
It wasn’t just the university leadership that the governor called out for inaction against the antisemitic protests as he also slammed Biden’s weakness, considered by some as a mere side effect of ineptitude and by others as a desire not to lose pro-Hamas voters.
“I think Biden has been very weak in basically allowing that to happen without getting the Department of Education, the Department of Justice, involved, which I would have done,” asserted DeSantis with echoing support on social media.
