Three members of a family — including an infant — were found dead in three Los Angeles County locations on Monday.
The California Highway Patrol got the first inkling of what was happening at about 4:30 a.m. when callers reported a 5-6 month old baby girl in the roadway of the 405 Freeway and a 9-year-old girl on the shoulder, the Los Angeles Times reported. The baby girl was pronounced dead on the scene, and the older girl was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The 911 caller reported seeing a black sedan nearby.
About a half hour later, police in Redondo Beach responded to a car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway. A woman driver had crashed into a tree and was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no visible skid marks, and officials said it appeared she drove into the tree at a high rate of speed.
About two hours later, police were called to a home in Woodland Hills where a body had been found. The Times said this was the woman’s husband, who had been stabbed to death. Neighbors told them that the woman and her husband, who had a volatile relationship, had a loud fight and that the woman left with her two young children, according to KCAL.
According to KABC, the older girl witnessed the murder.
Authorities have not released the names of any of the people involved.
