Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) has a rather interesting take on the Donald Trump legal saga that is unfolding before our eyes.
Jayapal is now pointing the finger at the Senate for costing taxpayers all this money that is being spent to prosecute Donald Trump.
In the process, she has more or less admitted that the prosecution of Trump has been politicized.
What Did She Just Say?
Jayapal was on the media circuit this weekend, calling out the Senate for not impeaching Trump when it had the chance.
She stated, “I go back to the responsibility of Congress here because had the Senate actually gone through with the impeachment of Donald Trump, we would not be in this situation.
“I remember Mitch McConnell giving a speech that sounded like he was going to vote for convicting, but he didn’t.
“It really, it is the thing that worries me, upsets me the most about the situation that we are in is we have to have accountability work.”
She added, “If there isn’t accountability for what Donald Trump did on many levels, on January 6, you know in this trial, in every possible way then that will send a message to Americans about what’s okay in this country.”
Believe me, there were enough Republicans in the Senate at the time who despised Donald Trump, and if they thought the case was strong, they would have impeached him, but that is not what I am hearing between the words of the Washington Democrat.
Jayapal basically admitted that if Trump were removed from the picture, these cases never would have been filed, which goes right to Trump’s point that these cases are election interference and were only filed to block him from becoming president again.
All I know is that if I were a Trump attorney, that interview would be exhibit one and turned into a campaign ad to back up Trump’s claims.
