Der Spiegel, a German-language publication, reported for the first time on May 5 that President Joe Biden is considering stepping down as a presidential candidate and endorsing Michelle Obama to replace him as the Democrat presidential candidate in 2024.
The Democrat Party may make the substitution at the Democrat National Convention in August, the publication said.
Der Spiegel said that Obama’s name has been added as a potential candidate and polls are being conducted to see how voters feel about her as a candidate.
“The idea of a female president inspires many Americans,” Der Spiegel noted.
It also cited polls that say two-thirds of Americans think Biden is too old to be president for another four years.
Another report cited concerns from Democrats that Biden may not have the required energy to be a successful candidate.
