Members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) welcomed President Trump on Thursday as he stopped by to deliver them pizza after spending a day in court for the bogus charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
The Republican presumptive nominee signed their logbook and shook hands with each firefighter.
In the logbook, he wrote, “I love you all, special people.”
Video footage captured one official saying, “Sir, save us, please,” while the rest supported his remark.
According to Fox News, Trump also visited the same fire department during the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Speaking with the firefighters, Trump emphasized his appreciation and gratitude for the people of New York City.
“We’re going to come in. Number one, you have to stop crime, and we’re going to let the police do their job. They have to be given back their authority. They have to be able to do their job,” Trump said. “And we’re going to come into New York. We’re making a big play for New York and other cities too. But this city, I love this city.”
The former president continues to frustrate the Democrats’ hopes of restraining and derailing his campaign by tying him down on court affairs. With his extended stay in New York City, he had a longer opportunity to campaign and woo undecided New Yorkers.
Just last week, Trump met with union workers in New York who were at their construction site. The workers greeted him with chants of “USA! USA!” and “We want Trump!”
He signed hats and took pictures with them while his lawyers entered the Supreme Court in Washington, DC.
Trump also spoke with reporters about his ongoing trials and said, “This whole thing is election interference.”
“They said, I just heard, there was a very good poll that came out. Normally, a Democrat will win New York. Biden is the worst president in history. We have some very bad people here, but we have the greatest people, and they’re right behind me. They all want us to run, and we’re going to run very hard in New York,” Trump said.
Last month, he also went to a bodega in Harlem, where he spoke with the leader of the bodega association.
Both leaders discussed the rising crime in New York and how law enforcement is lacking in Harlem.
Trump told them, “There’s no crime. You know where the crime is, in the bodegas where they come and rob them every week.”
“Alvin Bragg does nothing. He goes after guys like Trump who did nothing wrong,” Trump added.
He also blasted Judge Juan Merchan’s gag order: “There shouldn’t be a gag order. Let me just tell you, the gag order is unconstitutional,” Trump said.”
