Instagram is reportedly warning users wishing conservative host Tucker Carlson a “Happy Birthday” that he frequently publishes “false information.”
The warning surfaced on Thursday, asserting that Carlson often violates “Community Guidelines.” Both Facebook and Instagram fact-checkers have revved up again since another presidential election is fast approaching and conservatives such as Carlson appear to be targets. Users are advised to consider whether linking to the former Fox News host is wise. He isn’t the only one it is happening to either.
“Happy birthday, @tuckercarlson!” an Instagram Story stated. That’s all it took to get a warning from Instagram.
“This account has repeatedly posted false information that was reviewed by independent fact-checkers or went against our Community Guidelines. Do you want to mention this account?” the warning from Instagram menacingly advised, before giving users the choice to either “cancel” or “mention anyway.”
Wtf?
How badly is freedom being strangled when well-wishing somebody begets a threat in return? pic.twitter.com/Uhdyss8arb

“Carlson, one of the most prominent journalists in the United States who now runs his own network, the Tucker Carlson Network, celebrated his 55th birthday on Thursday,” Breitbart reported.
When Breitbart asked Instagram about the warning and why it was issued, all they reportedly heard were crickets in response.
“Earlier this year, Carlson landed an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he repeatedly pressured Putin to free jailed Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich,” Breitbart noted.
“I want to ask you directly — if, as a sign of your decency, you would be willing to release [Gershkovich] to us and we’ll bring him back to the United States,” Carlson asked the former intelligence officer and strong man.
Putin responded, “We have done so many gestures of goodwill, out of decency, that I think we have run out of them.”

The despot informed Carlson that Gershkovich may someday return to the United States if an agreement is reached between Moscow and Washington, D.C.
Carlson told Putin that the Wall Street Journal reporter “is obviously not a spy.”
“It’s not fair to ask for somebody else in exchange” for Gershkovich, he told the Russian president.
Sitting down with Putin caused the Left to collectively lose it and accuse Carlson of being a Russian stooge, perhaps triggering the eventual warning over at Instagram.
“Last month, Carlson said he will call for ‘extremism’ from American parents in defense of their children from leftist Democrat ideologues,” Breitbart also noted.
Other conservatives such as dc_draino, who is Rogan O’Handley, have also been on the receiving end of such a warning from Instagram. So it’s not just Carlson and it’s not a new development. O’Handley was dinged over it last year.
I have had an Instagram account for a long time. It is just for close friends & family so I haven’t followed anyone political until today. Of course the first conservative commentator I wanted to follow was Rogan. Look at this warning I got when I clicked follow… Oh so… pic.twitter.com/J50mqXrwpP
