Melania Trump was upset. After former President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, claimed in an August interview that predator Jeffrey Epstein introduced her to her future husband, President Donald Trump, a lawyer for the first lady branded Biden’s allegation “false, defamatory, disparaging and inflammatory.” Her legal team demanded a full retraction and apology, threatening Biden with a $1 billion lawsuit if he didn’t comply — and the president backed the move, Knewz.com can report.
Trump urged Melania to go after Biden

In fact, Trump said, he encouraged his wife to threaten Biden, citing his own recent success in defamation legal actions. “Well, I said go forward. I’ve done pretty well in these lawsuits lately,” Trump told Fox News Radio’s Brian Kilmeade. “Yeah, I told her let’s go ahead and do it,” the president said, sharing that he also told his wife he’d “let her use my lawyers.” Trump said that after hearing Biden’s claims, his spouse of 20 years “was very upset about it.”
Trump’s Epstein denial

The president insisted his former friend, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on trafficking charges, wasn’t involved in how he met his future wife. “Jeffrey Epstein has nothing to do with Melania and introducing [us],” Trump said on Fox News Radio. “But they do that to demean, they make up stories.” According to the commander in chief, “I did meet [Melania] through another person, but it wasn’t Jeffrey Epstein.” Trump has previously said he and Melania met at a New York Fashion Week party thrown by modeling agent Paolo Zampolli in 1998.
What Hunter Biden said

In an August interview with journalist Andrew Callaghan, Biden claimed that “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep.” He attributed the information to author Michael Wolff, a Trump biographer the president has publicly criticized. Biden then spoke out after receiving the letter from Melania’s lawyers. “F*** that, that’s not going to happen,” he told Callaghan in another interview. “I don’t think that these threats of a lawsuit add up to anything other than a designed distraction because it’s not about who introduced whom to who. I don’t know how that, in any way, rises to the level of defamation to begin with.”
Melania’s lawyer reacts

The first lady’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, said Melania could “suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm” due to Biden’s comments, which were widely picked up by the media. “These false, disparaging, defamatory and inflammatory statements are extremely salacious and have been widely disseminated throughout various digital mediums,” Brito wrote to Biden, explaining that “various media outlets, journalists and political commentators with millions of social media followers … have disseminated the false and defamatory statements therein to tens of millions of people worldwide.”
