Rosie O’Donnell apologizes for falsely accusing trans school shooter of being MAGA

Perpetual Trump-hater Rosie O’Donnell was forced to apologize after she claimed the Minneapolis school shooter was a Republican and “MAGA person.”

The so-called comedian fled the U.S. to Ireland because she couldn’t handle Donald Trump as president, but she has continued to post messages decrying his every move. And after last week’s tragic Minneapolis shooting, in which two children were killed and more than a dozen were injured, O’Donnell took the opportunity to take another dig at Trump.

“Saw about the Minnesota shooting, and it brought me right back to Columbine in 1999 when I just could not get it through my head that students in America were shooting each other in schools,” she said in her TikTok video rant about the transgender shooter.

“This was a church inside a Catholic school. And what do you know? This was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person, what do you know? White supremacist,” O’Donnell continued.

This was despite the facts that the police were releasing about 23-year-old Robin Westman, who was born Robert Westman. The shooter, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, had scrawled “kill Donald Trump” on one of his weapons and “fantasized about the plans of other mass shooters,” according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.

O’Donnell tried to excuse her “emotional” misstatement in another message posted Sunday.

“I know a lot of you were very upset about the video I made before I went away for a few days. You are right and I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement,” she said.

“I said things about the shooter that were incorrect. I assumed, like most shooters, they followed a standard MO and had standard feelings of you know, NRA-loving kind of gun people,” she added.

“The truth is, I messed up and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry, this is my apology video and I hope it’s enough,” O’Donnell concluded.

While many reacted to her post with support for her apology, many of the responses showed no mercy.

“She does not mean this apology. She is trying to save face, because she opened her mouth and was so wrong,” one TikTok user wrote.

“Rosie spews hate even when apologizing. While apologizing still wanted to back up her lie, with yet another lie about previous shooters being maga related smh,” another pointed out.
