An “internal power struggle” is currently taking place for control of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
This is according to a new report from the Daily Mail, titled, “Top government agency in turmoil as senior staff exit amid internal power struggle for Trump’s blessing.”
For those less familiar with the FCC, it is the regulator of major broadcast networks, including those networks that President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized for publishing what he refers to as “fake news.”

The details
It appears that the Daily Mail’s report is based on anonymous sources, so it must be taken with a grain of salt.
The outlet writes:
The crux of the internal drama at the FCC, which regulates the major broadcast networks that Trump has regularly raged against, stems from a clash between two top leaders over the agency’s direction and leadership. The Daily Mail has uncovered that generational and temperamental divides are behind the shake-up at the top of the agency. And it highlights the broad spectrum of ambition competing within Trump’s ever-growing orbit.
The referred to individuals include Nathan Simington, Trump’s chosen FCC commissioner, and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who took over when Trump entered the White House. Both individuals have left the FCC in recent months.
For much of its report, the Daily Mail details what has happened behind the scenes with Carr and Simington.
There is no indication about what direction the FCC is goign to end up going.
Background
The FCC was back in the national news just recently, after Trump took to social media to blast “fake news.”
This time, the president called for the FCC to revoke the licenses of ABC and NBC.
“Despite a very high popularity and, according to many, among the greatest 8 months in Presidential History, ABC & NBC FAKE NEWS, two of the worst and most biased networks in history, give me 97% BAD STORIES,” Trump wrote.
He added, “IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEY ARE SIMPLY AN ARM OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY AND SHOULD, ACCORDING TO MANY, HAVE THEIR LICENSES REVOKED BY THE FCC. I would be totally in favor of that because they are so biased and untruthful, an actual threat to our Democracy!!! MAGA”
There has been no response from the FCC.
