A shocking new Gallup survey shows Democrat satisfaction with the state of the nation has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded.
“Less than one percent of Democrats say they are satisfied with the current state and direction of the United States,” Gallup reported.
The figure marks a historic collapse in morale among Democrat voters.
The survey showed that Democrat optimism dropped off a cliff following President Donald Trump’s re-election last November.
Gallup recorded satisfaction levels just below 50 percent before Election Day. Immediately after Trump’s victory, satisfaction among Democrats plummeted to under 10 percent.
While Democrats sank to historic lows, Republicans moved in the opposite direction.
Gallup found that Republican satisfaction surged above 70% once Trump returned to office, according to Trending Politics.
The most recent data shows 76% of Republicans satisfied with the nation’s direction, a figure that has remained steady since Election Day. Gallup noted this marks a massive 76-point gap between the two parties.
“The 76-point gap is the highest Gallup has ever recorded on the measure,” the organization said. Analysts added that while partisan divides on satisfaction have persisted since the early 2000s, the current imbalance is without precedent.
Gallup compared today’s numbers with polling from July of last year, when Democrats held the White House under Joe Biden. At that time, Republicans were “essentially as dissatisfied” as Democrats are today.
During Biden’s presidency, Republican satisfaction collapsed to near zero. Even then, the partisan gap was just 35 points because Gallup found 36 percent of Democrats satisfied with the country’s direction.
Now, with Trump back in the White House, the roles have reversed. Democrats have bottomed out, and Republicans are overwhelmingly confident about the nation’s trajectory.
Gallup’s survey also measured President Trump’s overall job approval rating.
According to the poll, Trump stands at 40 percent approval nationwide.
That number is slightly lower than the RealClearPolitics polling average, which currently has Trump at 45.8 percent approval.
Despite falling short of the RCP average, Gallup noted Trump’s approval is still stronger than his predecessors at this stage of their presidencies.
The report stated that Trump’s current approval rating is higher than where George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and even Trump himself were at the same point in their terms.
Pollsters added that while nearly all major surveys still show Trump slightly underwater in approval, the president’s numbers remain historically resilient given the partisan environment.
Gallup’s findings highlight two realities: Democrats are demoralized at levels never seen before, and Republicans are more satisfied with the state of the nation than at any point in decades.
