Aristotle called the common noun a miracle.
In other words, language is the gateway to reality and a revelation of reason.
Language in general is miraculous. Unique to mankind, it reveals the capability to reason and gives man insight into reality – the very traits that separate us from beasts and render us made in the image and likeness of God.
But language can be abused and has been used to justify slavery, the Holocaust, abortion, and euthanasia.
Make no mistake: To intentionally muddy the waters and obfuscate the precious gift of language is to commit an offense against man’s reason and reality.
The refusal to see reality has caused many Americans, some well-intentioned and some not, to cede reality. Over the last twenty years, the imaginary noun “transgender” has ceded reality to the point of a complete break with reality.
God created mankind male and female. Period.
But that imaginary noun has produced very real revenue for what we’ll call the transgender industrial complex:
- The gender reassignment surgery market in the U.S. was estimated at about $2.1 billion in 2022, and has been projected to grow to $5 billion by 2030.
- The sex reassignment hormone therapy market in the U.S. was estimated at $1.6 billion in 2023, with significant growth projected through 2032.
Mankind is cooperating with evil on a grand scale and we are seeing the ill-tasting fruits of that cooperation.
Wednesday’s act of terrorism in Minneapolis was committed by a man who thought he was a woman against innocent children praying at Mass. While he is to blame for these evil actions, this act of evil is also a blight on a society that has affirmed a disease that begins with hatred of self and hatred of the way God made someone, and has fostered a culture of rejecting reality.
Too much has been surrendered to this denial of reality. Laws have been passed forbidding counseling that would resolve gender dysphoria. Monetary predators at hospitals have gotten rich by mutilating children unimpeded. Men have taken up residence in women’s locker rooms and on women’s sport teams.
We have to stand up to these injustices. Are we not our brother’s keeper?
Some are standing up. So far, 27 states have enacted legislation that limit or prohibit the ability of school counselors to provide or refer for so-called “gender-affirming care” for students with gender dysphoria.
On the federal level, the Trump administration has cut off federal funding for so-called “gender-affirming care” for individuals under 19.
All of that is encouraging. But it isn’t enough.
Indifference cannot be an excuse any longer. We know the reality God created and we can’t sit by and watch an insidious lie hide that reality and allow people to mutilate our children.
By the grace of God, some people have become aware of the lie and are reclaiming their true identities. But only after they had drug treatments and irreversible surgeries that were in many cases encouraged by parents, doctors, and other adults who were supposed to be protecting their interests. This cycle of abuse masquerading as “tolerance” and the nurturing of “identity” needs to stop.
For love of God and love of neighbor, we have to speak the TRUTH in charity and remove the blinders preventing people from seeing the reality of a God who loves you, knows you, and made you just as you should be.
How many more innocent lives will be destroyed? How many families will be visited by tragedy or children irrevocably harmed before we admit that a social experiment in affirming an identity contrary to nature and nature’s God can never result in the good its delusional proponents claim?
With God’s grace and our resolve, may there not be any more.
