Customer service used to mean something in this country.
You showed up, did your job, treated people with respect, and earned an honest living.
But one IHOP waitress in Florida just proved how far we’ve fallen when what she did to a female customer landed her in handcuffs.
The night that changed everything at this Florida IHOP
Twenty-six-year-old Allie May Wright was working her shift at an IHOP in St. Pete Beach when a 51-year-old woman walked in looking for nothing more than a meal.
What happened next would make your skin crawl.
According to police reports, Wright started calling the customer a “sexy c***” and brought her a milkshake she never ordered.¹
But that was just the beginning of this nightmare.
Wright “would return to the table and continued to call her a ‘sexy c***,’” according to the arrest affidavit.²
Then things got even worse.
The waitress sat down in the booth right next to the customer – someone she’d never met before – and “began to rub the victim on the back, arm and on the outside of her right breast,” according to police.³

Security cameras captured Wright “resting her head on the victim’s shoulder,” investigators reported.⁴
The victim told police she “did not know the defendant and did not give her permission to touch her.”⁵
This wasn’t customer service gone wrong – this was flat-out assault.
Police say alcohol was involved in this disaster
When officers arrived on the scene, they noted there was an “indication of alcohol influence” with Wright.⁶
So not only was this waitress harassing and groping customers, she was apparently doing it while under the influence.
Wright was arrested on battery charges and spent the night in the Pinellas County Jail before being released on a $250 bond.
A judge has ordered her to have no contact with the victim.
The entire incident was caught on IHOP’s security cameras, giving prosecutors all the evidence they need.
The incident occurred around 8 PM and Wright lives in St. Petersburg according to court records.⁷
Look, here’s what this really tells you about where we are as a society
You want to know what’s really happening here? This isn’t just about one drunk waitress who lost her mind during a shift.
This is about the complete breakdown of basic standards in the workplace.
There was a time when showing up to work intoxicated would get you fired on the spot – before you could assault customers.
There was a time when calling a customer obscene names would end your career in the service industry permanently.
But we’ve created a culture where people think they can do whatever they want without consequences.
And here’s what should really make you angry – this woman was probably making more money in tips than a lot of skilled workers make in regular wages, and she threw it all away because she couldn’t control herself for one shift.
The 51-year-old victim just wanted to grab a meal at IHOP and ended up getting sexually assaulted by someone who was supposed to be serving her food.
That’s not just inappropriate – that’s criminal behavior that no customer should ever have to endure.
Companies better wake up and start holding their employees accountable, because customers sure as hell shouldn’t have to put up with this kind of treatment when they’re just trying to eat dinner.
