Former Vice President Kamala Harris is being savagely mocked for announcing a book deal for her memoir about the 2024 presidential election, titled “107 Days.”
Harris’ book announcement came just one day after she revealed that she would not be running to be the next governor of California, sparking speculation that she was planning another run for president instead.
The former vice president reflected on her failing campaign as “the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.”
“What the world saw on the campaign trail was only part of the story. Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days, talking with my team, my family and friends, and pulling my thoughts together. In essence, writing a journal that is in this book,” Harris wrote on social media announcing her book as a ‘behind-the-scenes look’ at her campaign.
“It was intense, high stakes and deeply personal for me and for so many of you,” Harris added.
Harris’ announcement drew immediate mockery online, with many taunting the former VP for wasting billions of dollars on her campaign, including payments to prominent celebrities.
Many also noted that her book will be filled with “errors” because of her “word salads” and “gaslighting” about why her campaign failed.
“It’s just a recipe book for a word salad and will be full of errors,” wrote another person on social media.
“Writing a memoir about being a loser is a choice,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson wrote on X.
“Trying to sell some books to pay down your $5 million debt to Beyoncé for that endorsement?” wrote Nick Sortor on X.
“I can’t wait to hear the inside story about how you burned $1.5B in 107 days and accomplished absolutely nothing,” wrote Jim Hanson.
“Does the book include how much you paid for endorsements and cringe performances at your astroturfed rallies?” wrote Eric Daugherty on social media.
“Should have titled it ‘Luckily Voters Didn’t See More Of Me Or I Would Have Lost By Even More,’” added another person on social media.
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the book will instruct potential candidates for office on “how not to run a campaign.”
“She was destroyed in every single swing state. Remember this, she lost women at a lower margin than Joe Biden. Joe Biden carried women at a greater margin than she did,” he said Thursday evening in an appearance on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle.”
“She has no one to blame but her as a candidate for 107 days,” he told host Laura Ingraham. “I would give this book to every candidate that wants to learn how not to run a campaign.”
“So, there’s no authenticity behind her,” McCarthy said. “You know, she talked about maybe running for governor, then she got second thoughts, because she knew she couldn’t win. I think this book is her idea to try to set the stage to be the Democrat nominee again.”
President Donald Trump took jabs at the former Vice President.
“She can’t speak, she can’t talk, she can’t do an interview,” Trump said on Thursday at the White House when asked by a reporter about what he thought about Harris’s political future.
Reflecting on running against Harris in the 2024 election after former President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Trump said, “I thought it was a very strange campaign that we had. But, you know, I had two of them.” He continued, “We were up by this massive number of points on Biden, and they said, ‘Let’s change to Kamala.’ Nobody knew who Kamala was.”
Harris announced Wednesday she would not run for governor of California to replace outgoing Gov. Gavin Newsom, triggering speculation that she would run for president again in 2028.
