(DCNF)—Fox News host Martha MacCallum was visibly amused on Wednesday after “Outnumbered” staffers played parts of Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey’s Tuesday speech berating his party over how it has dealt with President Donald Trump.
Booker took to the Senate floor to object to legislation supported by fellow Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Catherine Cortez-Masto of Nevada along with Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa that would fund police departments. MacCallum cracked up on air after “Outnumbered” co-host Harris Faulkner asked for her opinion.
“It is outrageous. Amy Klobuchar, is like, you know, she’s like ‘I can’t help it if someone couldn’t change their schedule to be there,’ she’s drilling into him because he wasn’t even there for the vote,” MacCallum said before mocking Booker. “And then he goes, ’I had a conflict.’”
“Wait, aren’t you a senator? Wouldn’t that be the most important thing, to do your job, to show up for this vote?” MacCallum continued. “They are all pontificating over each other because they can’t figure out which lane they should be in and how far they should go. Cory Booker was a young, impressive mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He was interested in making sure that there was less crime in Newark, New Jersey. He seems to be completely, the seesaw has completely gone in the other direction for Booker.”
Booker previously set a record by speaking for over 25 hours against Trump’s policies in May, after which he signed a book deal. Booker also called himself “Spartacus,” after the gladiator who led a rebellion against the Roman Empire, during the 2018 Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
“I think he really likes to hear himself talk, because he pontificates quite a bit, from Spartacus to this particular performance,” MacCallum said, generating a chuckle from Faulkner.
