The swamp has been after Pete Hegseth ever since President Trump named him as his nominee to serve as Secretary of Defense.
But will the establishment finally claim the scalp many in D.C. have long sought?
And Pete Hegseth is preparing one surprise that will hit Trump like a ton of bricks.
As soon as Trump picked Hegseth to run the Defense Department, the smear campaign started.
The fake news media published anonymously sourced hit pieces attacking Hegseth as a drunk, a reprobate, and a sexual predator.
D.C. swamp dwellers feared Hegseth would stay loyal to President Trump’s America First foreign policy while rooting out wokeism and DEI.
Hegseth overcame the smears because they were nothing but lies to win confirmation.
Once in the position of Secretary of Defense, Hegseth fired woke generals, reversed the changing of the names of military bases named after Confederate Generals, and rolled back naming U.S. Navy ships after woke icons like homosexual pedophile Harvey Milk.
The swamp tried to get Hegseth fired again in the Signalgate hoax.
But President Trump stood by his Secretary of Defense.
Now the swamp thinks they have finally run Hegseth out of D.C.
NBC News reported Hegseth was reportedly discussing quitting the Pentagon to run for Governor of Tennessee in 2026.
“One of the people said their discussion with Hegseth happened within the past three weeks and that it was serious, not simply spitballing ideas. The other person, who also characterized it as serious, wouldn’t say when they had spoken — except that it was since Hegseth became defense secretary in January. The two sources, along with others in this article, were granted anonymity to speak candidly,” NBC News reported.
But this may be a case of the swamp trying to wish an outcome into existence.
Hegseth faces a residency hurdle as Tennessee requires Gubernatorial candidates to live in the state for seven years and Hegseth moved in state three years ago.
Defense Department spokesman Sean Parnell denied the report that Hegseth was considering resigning his post to run for elected office.
“Fake news NBC is so desperate for attention, they are shopping around a made up story… again,” Parnell said. “Only two options exist: either the ‘sources’ are imaginary or these reporters are getting punked. Secretary Hegseth’s focus remains solely on serving under President Trump and advancing the America First mission at the Department of Defense,” Parnell stated.
And even NBC had to report much farther down in the story that people who spoke with Hegseth came away with the impression that he wasn’t going to run for office.
“Others in Hegseth’s orbit said he doesn’t plan to launch a campaign. A person who spoke with the secretary last week asked him about speculation that he was looking for an off-ramp from being defense secretary, such as running for political office in Tennessee. This person said Hegseth was “very, very clear” that he wasn’t going to run and denied even considering it. The idea, this person said, is “totally off the table,” NBC also reported.
It’s easy to see who President Trump’s most effective cabinet secretaries are.
They are the ones who face hit pieces in the fake news media.
