Spiked by mistake: High Noon recalls vodka in CELSIUS energy drink cans

It’s a twist no one saw coming. An energy drink meant to perk you up might have been sneaking in a little happy hour.

High Noon, the beverage company specializing in hard seltzer, is alerting customers about a labeling mistake.

The company announced some of their vodka seltzer cans were accidentally labeled as CELSIUS energy drinks, likely due to a packaging error.

In a recall notice, High Noon says some Beach Variety Pack cans, filled with vodka seltzer, may have been incorrectly labeled as CELSIUS Astro Vibe energy drinks, which are supposed to be non-alcoholic. The mislabeled cans resemble CELSIUS Sparkling Blue Razz Edition energy drinks, with a silver top.

“Consumption of the liquid in these cans will result in unintentional alcohol ingestion,” the company’s recall alert stated.

Products shipped to six states

The company said the products were shipped to retailers located in six states: Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin between Monday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 23.

High Noon initiated a product recall after discovering that a packaging supplier, used by both High Noon and CELSIUS, had accidentally sent empty CELSIUS-branded cans to High Noon.

What consumers should do

Consumers are reminded not to drink CELSIUS Astro Vibe energy drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition. The affected cans have a silver lid and specific lot codes: from L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11.

People who have these cans should throw them away and not consume the drink inside.

Consumers who bought either the High Noon Beach Variety 12-packs or mislabeled CELSIUS Astro Vibe energy drinks with the specified lot numbers should contact the High Noon Consumer Relations department.
