An investigation is underway in Texas after a 4-year-old girl was found dead in a car on Tuesday.
The girl was discovered in a car parked in Poteet. A family member told KENS that the girl is autistic, and the family believes she got into the vehicle on her own.
KSAT reported the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear how long the girl was in the car on Tuesday. Her cause of death is undetermined.
If confirmed, the 4-year-old girl is at least the 18th child to die in a hot car this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 39 children died in hot cars in 2024.
