Five women exploited by paedophile gangs in Rotherham as children claim police officers also abused them in the town at the time.
One of them claims she was raped from the age of 12 by a South Yorkshire Police (SYP) officer on duty in a marked police car. He threatened to hand her over to the gang if she refused to comply, she says.
We cannot see the names of the former SYP officers mentioned in the accounts of their alleged victims because the women’s accounts have been redacted.
But three former police officers have been arrested since December 2024 on suspicion of historical sexual offenses—including attempted rape, indecent assault, and misconduct in public office. The crimes are believed to have been committed between 1995 and 2004, while the officers were serving as police officers. None have been charged.
But the BBC understands that one alleged victim, Willow, named officer Hassan Ali as having raped her in a police report.
“The first time, he literally said, ‘You do it for the other officer. Then you’ll do it for me,’” she tells us.
Officer Ali died in January 2015, a week after being struck by a car. On the day of the crash, he had been placed on restricted duty due to an investigation into allegations of misconduct in the abuse scandal. He was never arrested.
Willow also claims that the two officers who assaulted her, including Officer Ali, were also involved in drug supply.
