Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., appears well-positioned to claim the Palmetto State governor’s mansion should she opt to seek statewide office, a recent poll has revealed.
Mace has not formally entered the race, though she has teased such a move with myriad social media posts. One such post this week stated “If I were Governor, I’d never waver in backing the badge and defending the rule of law.” That post followed a meeting with a local police chief.
Mace notched 16% support among Republican voters, edging out state Attorney General Alan Wilson, who notched 15% in a South Carolina Policy Council survey.
Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette notched 8% while Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., earned 6%. State Sen. Josh Kimbrell took 3% support. A further 52% were undecided.
Conducted July 21-25, the survey questioned 1,200 registered voters and has a margin of error of +/- 2.77%.
“South Carolina needs a leader who will:
Lower state income tax to ZERO.
Protect women and children.
Restore Law and Order.
Expel the establishment.
Rebuild our energy grid.
To those that want to come after me, I say: bring it.
BIG DECISIONS COMING SOON,” Mace posted on Monday.
