(NewsNation) — University of New Mexico students are sheltering in place after a shooting at a residence hall killed at least one person.
The suspect remains at large and could still be on the campus.
Alerts were sent out Friday morning at 3:27 a.m. and 6:17 a.m. after reports of gunshots fired at Casas del Rio student housing.
Responding officers found two individuals had been shot when they arrived, one of whom died. The other has non-life-threatening injuries.
The central campus is closed and officers are asking people to avoid the area. The Health Sciences Center, including clinical facilities, remains open.
