Texas GOP Rep. Keith Self on Wednesday introduced a legislative package that seeks to codify four of President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders, including three related to education.
The four bills advance Trump’s “America First” policy agenda by codifying his actions related to school discipline policies, safety of biological research, restoring public service student loan forgiveness and changing the way American history is taught in schools to promote foundational principles.
“These executive orders by President Trump reflect commonsense governance and clear priorities. Now more than ever, public accountability, educational integrity, and national security are vital,” Self said in a statement. “To preserve the integrity of these accomplishments, we must protect them from being reversed by the radical left and cement these wins into law.”
“Each of these executive orders was designed to correct imbalances, protect taxpayer interests, and restore public trust,” he added. “We cannot waste the opportunity to make them permanent.”
