Politics makes very strange bedfellows these days as Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) blasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for voting against an anti-Israel amendment that was promoted by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
MTG and Israel
Where many take for granted that AOC is antisemitic, it is nothing short of stunning that a conservative Republican like Greene would be. She has been accused of it before, with most of the outrage over her anti-Israel conspiracy theories being given cover by Republicans, but it’s getting harder and harder to do so.
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rashida Tlaib (a Michigan Muslim Democrat and another radical member of the Squad who is pro-Hamas) voted “present” in June on a bipartisan resolution condemning the “rise in ideologically motivated attacks against Jews,” following a Colorado firebombing, according to The Times of Israel.
Last year, Greene voted against a bill that would have codified the definition of antisemitism because she said it would criminalize the “gospel” that “the Jews” handed Jesus to his executioners, according to the media outlet.
MTG claims to support Israel but does not want to give a foreign country money from the US, despite Israel being our strongest ally and it being in the interest of national security. We are, after all, the Great Satan, and Israel is the Little Satan.
In fact, there are DSAers out there who now claim they have more in common with MTG than AOC because she attempted to block US funding to the tune of $500 million for Israel’s Iron Dome. The money was allocated in Congress’s annual defense spending bill that is intended to support Israeli missile defense systems.
It should also be noted that MTG was staunchly against bombing Iran, which is not only an existential threat to Israel but to the US itself.
DSA hammers AOC over vote
“An arms embargo means keeping all arms out of the hands of a genocidal military, no exceptions. This is why we oppose Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’[s] vote against an amendment that would have blocked $500 million in funding for the Israeli military’s Iron Dome program,” the DSA declared over the weekend.
While acknowledging that AOC did vote against the defense funding bill itself, thereby “voting against funding for the imperialist military-industrial complex and the Israeli genocide,” the DSA shredded their card-carrying member over her position on the Iron Dome.
“We were further deeply disappointed by her clarifying statement on her position on the Iron Dome,” DSA remarked. “Along with other US-funded interceptor systems, the Iron Dome has emboldened Israel to invade or bomb no less than five different countries in the past two years.”
“The fact that Representative Ocasio-Cortez acknowledges that Israel is carrying out this genocide makes her support for military aid all the more disappointing and incongruous. We urge the representative to continue voting against the Iron Dome, whether it is part of a larger defense spending bill or as a stand-alone bill,” the socialist/communist group railed.
The DSA went on to give kudos to Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Summer Lee (D-PA), and Al Green (D-TX) for voting against the amendment. It should also be pointed out that Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) voted with the Democrats and Greene.
AOC claps back
AOC posted on X following the vote, “Marjorie Taylor Greene’s amendment does nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza. Of course I voted against it.”
“What it does do is cut off defensive Iron Dome capacities while allowing the actual bombs killing Palestinians to continue. I have long stated that I do not believe that adding to the death count of innocent victims to this war is constructive to its end,” she added. “That is a simple and clear difference of opinion that has long been established. I remain focused on cutting the flow of US munitions that are being used to perpetuate the genocide in Gaza.”
AOC has been battered before by anti-Israel Democrats for not being more of an antisemite. Unbelievably, they think she’s just not radical enough and doesn’t sufficiently hate Jews. All evidence to the contrary.

In 2021, the New York Democrat cried on the House floor after voting “present” on funding Israel’s Iron Dome defense system.
“Yes, I wept,” she wrote in an open letter to constituents after the incident. “I wept at the complete lack of care for the human beings that are impacted by these decisions. I wept at an institution choosing a path of maximum volatility and minimum consideration for its own political convenience.”
MTG’s amendment implodes
The bill passed last week. It budgets $832 billion in defense funding for fiscal year 2026. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is separate from that as a bill and determines defense and national security policy each fiscal year, laying out how those funds will be spent.
Greene’s amendment to strip the $500 million going toward Israeli missile defense programs went down in flames in a 6-422 vote.

Greene hotly defended her amendment.

“Israel bombed the Catholic Church in Gaza, and that entire population is being wiped out as they continue their aggressive war in Gaza,” Greene said.
“My amendment would strike $500 million in funding for nuclear-armed Israel’s missile defence system. The U.S. already provides Israel with $3.8 billion annually in foreign aid. 3.8 billion. That’s a lot of money,” she continued.
“Here in America, we’re $37 trillion in debt. My amendment will ensure an America First department of defense, and that is exactly what we need,” she added.
AOC’s office is vandalized
Following AOC’s vote, her headquarters in the East Bronx was vandalized by anti-Israel activists. The office in Westchester Square had red paint splattered all over it on Sunday with a sign declaring “AOC funds genocide in Gaza,” according to the New York Post.

Police said they responded to a 911 call shortly before 12:45 a.m. Monday at the congresswoman’s office.
Someone obliterated a picture of Ocasio-Cortez with red paint.
“We see a lot of this stuff. We’re going to review our cameras and that of the building, too,” Oliver Hidalgo, AOC’s campaign manager, stated. “We’ve been in touch with the landlord and folks, and we’ve had a lot of folks who have been reaching out, volunteers who want to help and clean up, so they’ll be doing that. I just got here, so I don’t know if there’s anything else beyond this, but the number one priority is making sure people are ok.”
“F–K AOC,” the Boogie Down Liberation Front told communist reporter Ashoka Jegroo while taking responsibility for the vandalism. The radical left-wing group does not seem to have any online presence yet. The anti-Israel protest group Decolonize This Place also posted pictures of the vandalism online.
Tellingly, no one has been arrested for the vandalism even though the Boogie Down Liberation Front has taken credit for it, according to NY Daily News. An investigation is ongoing.
