Jeffrey Epstein: The Sudden About-Face

For years, the name Jeffrey Epstein has been shorthand for a scandal too big to contain. Billionaires, royals, celebrities, and politicians all whispered to have crossed paths with a man whose wealth covered up the sexual exploitation of minors.

When he was “found” hanged to death in his jail cell, it did not end the scandal — it launched it into an entirely new level of conspiracy and suspicion. Suddenly, the world was not just asking who was on his client list, but who wanted him dead and what secrets were buried with him.

Now, the very people who once promised the truth are telling us to drop it and move on. Politicians who campaigned on draining the swamp just voted to keep the files sealed. Influencers who built followings demanding the Epstein list are now scolding their audiences for not moving past it.

Dinesh D’Souza says it’s “time to move on” from Jeffrey Epstein—despite the mountain of unanswered questions still surrounding the case.

But perhaps the strangest pivot is from Donald Trump himself. The man who once said Epstein and the Clintons were thick as thieves now floats the idea that the Epstein scandal was just a hoax cooked up by Democrats. So which is it? Was Epstein a real monster who trafficked young girls for the world’s elite, or was the whole thing a Democrat plot? If the files are fake, release them anyway and let the American people see exactly how fake they are.

So Which Is It — Hoax or Truth?

And I mean, sure, there’s just a woman rotting in prison because a jury decided those same “totally fake” documents prove she’s guilty. Nothing to see here, right?

Then on Saturday, Trump introduced a third possibility: That there was a cover-up, but it was a virtuous cover-up, because what was being concealed was itself fake.

He announced: “Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, [Former FBI Director James] Comey, [former CIA Director John] Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration. … They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called ‘friends’ are playing right into their hands.” – The Hill

The sudden whiplash reeks of panic. It is no secret that elites on both sides of the aisle feared what Epstein’s records might expose. Republicans, Democrats, royals, and celebrities all found comfort in the idea that their secrets would stay sealed under the guise of ongoing investigations or sensitive intelligence. Now, when there is a chance to put it all out in the open, they slam the door shut.

An amendment demanding that President Donald Trump’s administration release all files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was shot down by Republicans on the House Rules Committee on Monday.

The amendment, which was introduced by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), was rejected by every Republican present during the vote except Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), who voted with Democrats in favor of demanding that the Trump administration release the Epstein files.

Khanna’s amendment would have required that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi “retain, preserve, and compile any records or evidence related to any investigation, prosecution, or incarceration of Jeffrey Epstein,” and to “release and publish any records or evidence” on a “publicly accessible website” no later than 30 days after. – Mediaite

A Big Reveal — or Just Smoke and Mirrors?

I mean, this just looks bad. After years of everyone demanding the files be released and the truth come out, the second someone actually tries to do it — and it happens to be a Democrat — Republicans say no. It does not look good.

What exactly is so risky about releasing all the files? They claim it would violate the privacy of a few clients, the same men who paid for underage girls and bought their way into silence.

But what if there is nothing left to see? What if it was always just a useful ghost story, dangled in front of the base to keep everyone hooked on the promise of draining the swamp? Years of rallies, headlines, podcasts shouting about the big reveal, and now that the door could actually swing open, they panic.

Maybe the real secret is not some explosive list, but that there never was one. Just enough whispers and shadows to keep everyone distracted while the same old power games roll on behind the curtain.

But a man killed himself, and a woman still sits in prison.

So here are the two — and only two — options.

Option one is that the Trump administration played into the Epstein “conspiracy theories,” knowing they were false, until the moment when it no longer benefited them. They were drumming up Epstein conspiracies before the election, and then once they took power, they didn’t know what to do. So they lied about having possession of a client list, strung everyone along for a while, until finally they dropped the pretense. That’s one theory.

The second is that the “conspiracy theories” are true, and now this administration is — for one reason or another — participating in the cover up.

There is no Door Number Three here. Those are the two possibilities. It’s not a good situation either way. Pam Bondi needs to go, at a minimum. She either lied and said she had the client list on her desk when she didn’t, or she’s lying now and saying she doesn’t have the list when she does. Again, there is no third option. She’s lying either way. You can’t get around it. And we can’t have an Attorney General who lies to us about something as important as this. – Matt Walsh, The Daily Wire

Why Bury It If There’s Nothing There?

Remember, the guy was arrested under Trump’s watch. He has been aware of this case since the beginning. This is not just some Biden cover-up. Both sides have had their chance to show the truth. They could still do so if they really wanted to.

If it is fake, then show us. People are grown-ups and can handle the truth. I don’t think it’s fake. Perhaps parts of it were blown out of proportion, but there is something to it. We should see every name involved in the abuse and cover-up. They can release it without exposing the victims. Someone knows the truth, and someone needs to speak up. What could be so explosive in those documents that so many people want them buried for good?

And then there was this from Tucker Carlson over the weekend.

And what about Alex Acosta? He is the guy who cut Epstein’s original plea deal in 2008, let him off easy, and then somehow got rewarded with a cabinet seat. He vanished from the spotlight after he resigned under Trump. If this scandal is all fake or overblown, Acosta probably knows better than anyone. Funny how he is nowhere to be found while the rest of them tell us to move on.

Where is the press? Why is no one chasing down Alex Acosta for answers? He cut the deal; he knows what was buried. But apparently, that is one door no reporter wants to knock on.
