A Pennsylvania man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly gunning down his in-laws just hours after his wife served him with divorce papers.
According to the Palmer Township Police Department, officers responded to a disturbing scene at a home on Glasgow Way on June 3. When they arrived, they found 34-year-old Xiamon Fei standing at the front door holding a firearm. Authorities say he followed commands and surrendered peacefully.
Inside the home, police discovered two elderly victims with gunshot wounds. The victims, identified by WCAU-TV as Robert and Gretchen Ackernan, were both in their 70s. Robert was pronounced dead at the scene. Gretchen died while being transported to a nearby hospital.
Two young children, ages 4 and 5, were also found hiding in another room. Fortunately, they were unharmed.
Fei allegedly told police that his wife had served him divorce papers earlier that same day. He claimed she and her parents had locked him out of the house and prevented him from seeing his children. According to investigators, Fei then purchased a gun, used a hammer to force his way into the home, and opened fire on his in-laws after seeing his wife and children inside.
He now faces a list of charges including criminal homicide, burglary, reckless endangerment, and possession of an instrument of crime.
The investigation remains ongoing.
