With a name like Planned Parenthood, you’d think they actually care about “parenting.” They want you to believe they care deeply about your parenting choices. To prove it, they’ve dedicated an entire webpage to answering life’s prime question: Is parenting the right option for me?
Spoiler alert: Planned Parenthood’s answer is no.
This page isn’t guidance; it’s an infomercial. And like any slick product pitch, it starts invitingly enough: “Parenting can be joyful, rewarding, and life-changing.” But wait, there’s more! They quickly point out that having a baby means you’ll be broke, tired, stressed, relationship-wrecked, and your career dreams? Dead on arrival.
In Planned Parenthood’s world, raising a child is a lifetime prison sentence. They predict you’ll get less sleep, lose your friends, and have zero time to “do things you need and want to do.” But not to worry, there’s a convenient alternative, one that Planned Parenthood just happens to dominate: abortion.

At least they had the courage to drop their golden word—abortion—by the second paragraph. Because nothing says, “We’re here to support your parenting journey,” like reminding you that you could just make your baby disappear.
The page is riddled with questions meant to terrify you into picking death’s door for your baby: Am I ready to be totally responsible for all of my child’s needs? Can I afford to raise a child right now? What kind of support will I have? What would having a baby mean for my future?
Translation: Parenting is a nightmare. Save yourself while you can.
And just in case you’re tempted to consider parenting, Planned Parenthood offers another “friendly” warning: beware of those evil Crisis Pregnancy Centers. You know, the ones that actually rely on donations, not government subsidies. The ones that offer diapers, free ultrasounds, housing, counseling, and hope—for moms, dads, and babies. According to Planned Parenthood, those are “fake clinics.” Because apparently, anyone who helps you keep your baby alive instead of charging you to end its life must be a fraud.
Adoption gets a quick mention—like the drunk uncle no one wants to claim—while abortion is treated like the straight-A student with a full ride to Yale, the golden child of Planned Parenthood.
But children are not a curse. They are a blessing that gives life its deepest meaning. The sleepless nights fade, but the first time your child calls you “Mom” or “Dad” lasts forever. Folks who lived through the Great Depression often said that every time a baby entered a family, it wasn’t a burden but a new asset—a priceless addition. Children are blessings beyond measure, something Planned Parenthood, with its fee schedules, will never understand.
“Is Parenting the Right Option for Me?” Whether planned or unplanned, the gift of new life is not an “option.” It is the greatest gift one can receive.
