Pro-life advocates are preparing for what is expected to be the largest March for Life in the United Kingdom’s history, with organizers anticipating over 10,000 participants on September 6 in central London.
The event, now in its 13th year, aims to rally support for the protection of unborn babies and challenge the UK’s abortion laws, which have led to over 10.6 million abortions since the 1967 Abortion Act.
The march, which began in Birmingham in 2013 with just a few hundred attendees, has grown significantly, moving to London in 2018 and drawing an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 people in 2024. This year’s event is poised to surpass that number, fueled by growing public concern over recent parliamentary moves toward decriminalizing abortion at any stage of pregnancy.

“We encourage all those who value life to come to the March for Life UK and make your voice heard,” said Catherine Robinson, spokesperson for Right To Life UK.
The day will begin with a Pro-life Human Rights Summit at the Emmanuel Centre at 10 a.m., followed by the march at 1:30 p.m., concluding with a rally in Parliament Square. Keynote speakers include Carla Lockhart MP, chair of the Pro-Life All-Party Parliamentary Group; Sara Spencer, a student midwife suspended for her pro-life views; Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, co-director of March for Life UK, who has faced multiple arrests for silently praying near abortion centers; and Josiah Presley, an abortion survivor.
Pro-life advocates highlight the UK’s high abortion rates, with over 250,000 babies killed in abortions annually, a number that has been exacerbated by the 2022 decision to permanently allow at-home abortions using mifepristone and misoprostol without a hospital visit.
The introduction of National Buffer Zones in 2024, which restrict pro-life prayer and protests near abortion centers, has further galvanized the pro-life movement.
The event comes amid heightened tensions, with pro-abortion counter-demonstrators expected to attend, as seen in previous years when marchers faced heckling and accusations of being “Christian fascists.” Despite such opposition, organizers remain steadfast.
“Life is not a privilege to be earned, but a gift bestowed on us at conception by Almighty God,” said Vaughan-Spruce.
The March for Life UK continues to unite pro-life groups and individuals, showcasing their work and urging lawmakers to reconsider abortion policies. With a record turnout expected, advocates hope to send a powerful message to Parliament about the sanctity of life.
