California Governor Gavin Newsom is acting like an internet troll with bad imitations of Donald Trump’s social media posts, threatening an illegal gerrymander of California’s Congressional map to give Democrats more seats heading into 2026, and is puffing out his chest with false bravado at every turn to pick fights with President Trump.
In turn, Newsom is surging in the 2028 Democrat Presidential primary polls.

Newsom’s latest stunt was falsely claiming President Trump imposed socialism on America when Trump turned the $11 billion Joe Biden and the Democrats tried to hand Intel as part of the CHIPS Act into an equity stake.
The government’s share doesn’t allow it to cast a vote on board decisions or make any moves to affect the company’s business strategy.
Intel is a key national security concern.
It’s the only company in America that makes advanced computer chips.
If Communist China launches a war against Taiwan, where the companies that make computer chips are currently located, America’s economy would go into a Second Gret Depression overnight and the stock market would plunge 50 percent.
Ensuring Intel doesn’t fail is a vital national security interest.
But at a POLITICO Live event, Newsom seized on the deal as another opportunity to troll Trump and his supporters
“Hey, Sean Hannity! You watching?” Newsom exclaimed in the middle of tirade about Trump supposedly being a socialist.
Newsom poked the bear and Hannity responded.
Hannity responded on X by asking Newsom questions about his failed record in California on taxes, which made California the most expensive state in the nation to do business in.
“Gavin are you proud of the fact that your state has the highest income taxes in the nation?” Hannity began.. “Are you proud of the fact your state has the highest sales taxes in the country? Are you proud of the fact your state has the highest gas taxes in the country? Now you only have the 6th highest corporate taxes in the country is it your goal to do better and become the highest taxed state for corporations?”
Hannity wasn’t done there.
The Fox News host followed up with a series of questions about Newsom’s failures on crime, homelessness and residents fleeing California, which resulted in the state’s first net population loss in history.
“In my next round of questions we can discuss 1-why your plan to end homelessness failed spectacularly, 2-California’s out of control Crime problem, 3-The debt and deficit problems in California, 4-quality of life issues in California and 5- Why so many people are leaving your state. Mr Part-time Governor, full time podcaster and full time tweety bird, it’s been a blast catching up. Thank you in advance for taking time away from Hating Donald Trump to (hopefully) answer these important questions!!” Hannity concluded.
Newsom is rising in the polls because he is acting like the fighter Democrats crave.
But Donald Trump easily defeated Kamala Harris in 2024 because voters saw Kamala as a California liberal who was too far left.
Gavin Newsom is even farther left than Kamala, and nominating Newsom would mean the Democrats are asking the American people if they want to turn the country into California.
