“Cell phones are killing our kids!” I hear this from parents and experts. But it reminds me of something else they said, decades ago:
“Heavy metal is killing our kids!” “Video games make them violent!”
Is the current worry about smartphones just another… overblown panic?

I talked to two psychologists on opposite sides of the social media debate.
On one side, Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, says kids need to be protected from screens.
On the other side, Chris Ferguson of Stetson University says if there was an issue, “we’d see a consistent international trend in diagnoses of disorders. We actually don’t see that.”
In this video I give him more time to argue that “we’re probably in the midst of another moral panic.”
