LARGO, FL – A desperate search is underway for 26-year-old Jayanna Clark, who authorities believe was abducted by her former boyfriend early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. at the Crescent Lane Apartments on Gandandy Boulevard. Witnesses reported seeing Clark forced into her vehicle.
By evening, police had located the car in the 6500 block of Albertton Road near Highway 19. However, Clark and the suspect, identified as Javvante Bell, are believed to have switched to another dark sedan.
Residents of the apartment complex have expressed concerns, suspecting that Bell, Clark’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, is responsible. This marks the third time Bell has been accused of kidnapping Clark, according to public records.
Justin Crombi, a neighbor, recounted the alarming scene at dawn. He witnessed an altercation between Clark and a man he identified as Bell. Crombi described the incident as “highly passionate, highly violent,” and watched as Bell allegedly forced Clark into a Nissan sedan before fleeing.
Court records reveal that Bell faced kidnapping charges twice last year, once in Clearwater and again in Hillsboro County. In the latter incident, Bell and an accomplice reportedly wore masks and were armed when they took Clark. They were found 18 hours later at Bell’s mother’s home in Largo, yet charges were eventually dropped.
Questions linger about why previous charges did not lead to a conviction. Crombi, reflecting the community’s frustration, asked, “How’s he not in prison for a year?”
While Crombi couldn’t intervene during the abduction, he managed to record the vehicle’s license plate, aiding the police in their search. Describing Clark, he noted, “She’s taking care of her kids, nursing, and trying to do the right thing.”
The police urge anyone with information about Clark’s whereabouts to contact them immediately.
