The Home Depot was deemed “complicit” by an anchor baby elected official in Los Angeles as she rallied opposition against a new location while the business “remained silent” on ICE raids.
Despite attempts at lawfare and acts of judicial activism vying to oppose the restoration of national sovereignty in the United States, efforts at law and order have continued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). After one such operation took place near a Los Angeles Home Depot, a city councilmember called for the company to take its “orange aprons somewhere else” after allegedly becoming “associated with terror.”
Friday, LA City Councilmember Ysabel Jurado (D) released a statement on social media railing against a “warrantless raid at the Westlake Home Depot,” which she described as the fourth such “attack” at the business since June.
“Take your orange aprons somewhere else. Home Depot has no place in Eagle Rock,” she captioned her statement as she voiced her opposition to the home improvement chain adding a location within her district.

“These raids are part of a disturbing pattern across Los Angeles, with ICE repeatedly targeting Home Depot parking lots — common gathering spots for day laborers — without judicial warrants, in clear violations of people’s rights. And yet, Home Depot has remained silent,” raged Jurado. “When your name becomes associated with terror and you refuse to speak, you are complicit. Home Depot has chosen power and profit over the working people who sustain it.”
According to The Eastsider, Home Depot filed with the city planning department to raze an old Macy’s store in Eagle Rock Plaza to erect one of its locations at the site.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reported that surveillance video taken Thursday was said to depict law enforcement agents arresting anywhere from “eight to 15 people” after pulling up in a black van near vendors parked across the street from Home Depot.
Jurado, who describes herself as the “daughter of undocumented Filipino immigrants,” made no mention of the fact that the raid near the Westlake Home Depot also happened to be the location of the CARECEN Day Labor Center, which self-identifies as “a portal for new Central American and Mexican immigrants arriving in Los Angeles.”
Home Depot has taken heat from open borders activists for months amid President Donald Trump’s focused push on deporting criminal illegal aliens, including temporary restraining orders blocking arrests at the stores and other locations frequented by those unlawfully present in the United States.
All the while, the business has attempted to make clear that it has nothing to do with the raids. In a statement released to the media by Home Depot spokesperson Sarah McDonald, the company expressed, “We aren’t notified that ICE activities are going to happen, and in many cases, we don’t know that arrests have taken place until after they’re over.”
“We’re required to follow all federal and local rules and regulations in every market where we operate,” added McDonald.
The company pushed back on any link to the raids earlier in the month when the Republican Party of Florida was asked to pull merchandise designed to match the Home Depot’s brand in recognition of plans to open another detention facility in the Sunshine State, dubbed “Deportation Depot.”

As Jurado maintained, “Our communities deserve safety, dignity, and businesses that fight for the people, not against them,” a statement from DHS to Fox News Digital highlighted who the councilmember was defending.
“On August 28, Border Patrol conducted a targeted operation near 1675 Wilshire Blvd, in Los Angeles, California. During the operation, eight individuals were arrested–including six illegal aliens from Guatemala, one illegal alien from El Salvador, and one illegal alien from Mexico,” explained DHS. “Three of those arrested had extensive rap sheets for crimes including visa overstay, possession of a controlled substance, and grand theft. One individual also had a final order of deportation from an immigration judge. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences. Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”
