ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), a Division of the Department of Homeland Security) held a recruiting event and the Washington Post was unhappy with the function. Low information voters (LOFOs), th are easily led by this kind of sneering polemic. The kind the WaPo is famous for:
–Roger Branigan
Pre-Social Media it was nearly impossible to get another narrative out to the public. The newspapers were gospel. Free-thinking individuals who tried to offer another perspective were shouted down. While the newspapers certainly are not gospel anymore, the LOFOs still take their marching orders from them. Since Berkeley in 1984, ICE has been under fire from the activists and LOFOs. As Victory Girls’ own Carol wrote in July “ICE Agents Under Siege as Radical Activists Escalate Threats and Doxxing Campaigns”, agents are threatened, followed home, attacked and doxxed:
This is not just an immigration issue. This is a national security issue. These agents protect the country from human traffickers, drug smugglers, and violent criminals. When activists target them, they are not standing up for justice. They are undermining it. They are weakening the very system that allows a sovereign country to defend its borders and protect its citizens.
It is time to say the quiet part out loud. These are not protestors. These are domestic terrorists. They have declared war on law enforcement, and they will not stop until the system breaks or someone stands up and stops them.
ICE agents are the frontline. But the target is all of us.
Amen, Carol. And yet, there are still brave souls out there willing to sign up for service. A recruiting event at the Esports Arena in Arlington, Texas is the focus of this article and the sneering derision. The article is: “At an ICE career expo, thousands line up to ‘defend the homeland’”. The opening salvo:
Christian Osborne has been itching to serve his country since he was discharged from the Marines after refusing the coronavirus vaccine. He thinks Americans have a naive view of illegal immigration and wants to be part of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign.
“Every country for its entire existence has always had borders. We’re the only country who says, ‘Come on in,’” said Osborne, 24. “There needs to be a control on who can come in, to make sure you’re not some psycho.”
So last week he shuffled into a Texas arena typically reserved for Counter-Strike and “League of Legends” video game competitions to attend a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement career expo and make the case for why he should become one of 10,000 new officers the agency intends to hire this year.
Esports Area (e for electronic) does host gamer conventions. Fact. Perfect venue. But, the locale also has the perfect amenities for all kinds of events. To denigrate a prior service Marine by saying he “shuffled” into the gaming venue. Shuffle this, babe.
For perspective, Robert Klemko, the reporter, “won the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for “American Icon,” a series examining the rise of the AR-15.” The article on the AR-15 has even more sneering contempt than the ICE article.
More from the Department of Homeland Security event:
So far, the Department of Homeland Security said it has received more than 130,000 applications, and if the hiring fair in this community wedged between Dallas and Fort Worth offers any indication, plenty of people are eager to sign up. Despite polls showing that growing numbers of Americans disapprove of Trump’s aggressive tactics and images of masked ICE agents whisking immigrants off the streets, 3,000 applicants showed up to submit résumés at last week’s career expo, drawn in part by the president’s call to serve and the promise of a signing bonus of up to $50,000 for top recruits.
Polls are consistently wrong. Everyone recognizes that the questions are loaded to guide your answers. The polls say one thing. The election results say something else.
Overhead, a video about ICE’s history and mission played on a large screen while smaller TV monitors touted ICE’s hiring mantra: “Defend the homeland.” Recruiting agents sat at tables parked in front of an ICE-branded Ford Mustang, resplendent in black, gold and red. In a lobby, applicants lined up to submit fingerprints for background checks and urine for drug screening.
“Defend the homeland” is a spectacular motto. And, what the heck is wrong with a branded Ford Mustang?
No age cap.
$50,000 signing bonus.

This type of poster is offensive to the Washington Post, too.
The recruiting push has come with militaristic branding that evokes World War II-era U.S. propaganda posters featuring Uncle Sam, casting immigration enforcement as a defense against an “invasion.” At the hiring expo, a video played on a large screen in a dimly lit room touting ICE’s role investigating human trafficking and drug-smuggling, and showing agents in fatigues and bulletproof vests.
That message appealed to Arturo Sanchez, 29, who sported an Air Force cap as he made his pitch. He’d been a hydraulics specialist working on E-C130s at posts including Kuwait, Afghanistan and Qatar. Since he left the service, he’s been selling manufactured homes. He said he once applied to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, but was turned down. He said he believes that working against illegal immigration will help prevent human trafficking and drug smuggling.
It has been an invasion. We do need brave men and women to stand up and “Defend the homeland”. It’s not a far stretch to compare World War II efforts to the crisis we have now.
In this piece from NBC News, this reporterette reads the script as if she is hiding in a secure bunker. The $50,000 signing bonus is articulated as if you’ll never work again with this kind of money.
What a load of rubbish.
This is typical Legacy Media tosh. They have one perspective and an inability to learn. Unlike those who will be recruited by ICE. A girl can dream, can’t she?
