It’s been a three-day weekend. Let’s check in to see how things are going in Chiraq.
As is tradition, Labor Day weekend in Chicago is marked with a body count. And I know what you’re thinking, “Hey Brodigan, I saw someone take a picture in front of that stupid egg thing that said Chicago violence was fake news.”
Well, apparently, if you travel a few blocks in any direction, you’ll come across 54 people with bullet wounds, seven of them dead, and a drive-by shooting that left a bunch more injured. But hey, hot dogs and a casserole they try to pass off as pizza!
What makes this bloody three-day weekend in Chicago different from every other bloody three-day weekend in Chicago is that this year it’s against the backdrop of Donald Trump’s common-sense law-and-order reforms, and both Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker are rejecting them.
Trump implemented his common-sense law and order reforms in Washington, DC, and crime rates plummeted. So much so that the leftist mayor was forced to admit she greatly appreciated what Trump had done.
Pritzker was too busy stuffing his face with pastries to comment on the bloody weekend. Though he did find time to spread the BlueAnon conspiracy theory that Trump was dead.
Priorities! His running for president in 2028 takes precedence over the safety of people leaving their homes. If only he cared as much about protecting the citizens of Chicago as he does the Democrat state senators from Texas who ran away from doing their jobs last month. I’m guessing they stayed in the safer suburbs.
Donald Trump has a scheduled Oval Office conference for later this afternoon. The odds of him being asked about this are 100%.
