President Donald Trump and his administration just cut funding for California’s high-speed rail.
This comes, according to Fox Business, after Trump announced plans for the $4 billion decision back in July.
To make a long story short, Trump does not seem to believe that the project is worth the money.

Background
In July, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the administration was terminating $4 billion in unspent federal funding for the California High Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA).
At the time, Trump explained the decision in a social media message.
He wrote:
To the Law abiding, Tax paying, Hardworking Citizens of the United States of America, I am thrilled to announce that I have officially freed you from funding California’s disastrously overpriced, “HIGH SPEED TRAIN TO NOWHERE.” This boondoggle, led by the incompetent Governor of California, Gavin Newscum, has cost Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we have received NOTHING in return except Cost Overruns. The Railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will. This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED. Thanks to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, not a SINGLE penny in Federal Dollars will go towards this Newscum SCAM ever again. This was an ill-conceived and unnecessary project, and a total waste of Taxpayer money — But no more!
California responded with a lawsuit, looking to reverse the funding cut. But the Trump administration has not backed down.
In fact, it has just cut even more money from the project.
The latest
Fox reports that the Trump administration cut another $175 million from the project last week.
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced the move in a press release.
The department wrote:
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced that the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) withdrew funding for four projects related to California’s High-Speed Rail boondoggle. The move will save the American people over $175 million in federal dollars that would have otherwise been wasted to make improvements to this failed high-speed rail project.
Duffy also released a statement on the matter.
He said.
In twenty years, California has not been able to lay a single track of high-speed rail. Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg didn’t care about these failures and dumped hundreds of millions of dollars into the state’s wish list of related fantasy projects. The waste ends here. As of today, the American people are done investing in California’s failed experiment. Instead, my Department will focus on making travel great again by investing in well-managed projects that can make projects like high-speed rail a reality.
Whether additional backlash from Golden State leaders against the move will ensue, only time will tell.
