Kentucky police arrested a woman on Sunday, days after they reportedly discovered her deceased baby in a closet.
On Wednesday, Lexington police who responded to a report of an unresponsive infant allegedly found the baby in a closet, wrapped in a towel in a trash bag. WLWT reported that the infant’s mother is Laken Snelling, 21, but how the infant died remains under investigation.
Snelling, who is from Tennessee, is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. Reports indicated she is a senior at the University of Kentucky.
The university said that Snelling has been a member of the school’s STUNT team for the last three seasons. Stunt is a competitive sport involving tumbling, stunting, and jumping and is completely separate from the school’s cheer teams, although many competitors come from that background.
