On August 19, 2025, in Quick Takes #6 I posted the following: Def-Con News to Have Its Plug Pulled for Lack of Donations.
During the last 10 days I have exchanged several text messages with the editor Brian Anderson and have come to learn the lack of donations is not the full story. Brian is dealing with equipment problems and other projects which demand his time and attention, and have pulled him away from DCN. Now he has chosen to bring DCN to an end and I respect his decision.
I’d like to keep Def-Con News continuing to be a source of news and fellowship, but due to equipment problems Brian is not able to hand-off the operation to me, and I do not have the necessary connections or know-how to start up my own operation. Also, I am an old man—double retired, USAF and Counseling—and my wife has been telling me for at least the last three years she wants more of my time and less Nathanael Greene article writing. We have been happily married for nearly 43 years and I must honor her wishes.
If anyone has the know-how to set up a web site like DCN and is willing to contribute to article writing, I’m certain donations will cover costs, and I would be honored if you would allow me to contribute a daily article or two, but I will not be able to keep up my current average of 130 articles a month. NOTE: The past 14 months I have been on a holy terror of averaging 164 articles a month. And I have loved every minute of it.
Until I am informed otherwise, I presume the end of operation date is September 6. Meanwhile, I will continue writing daily for DCN and I will try to follow you all to wherever you land. Please keep me informed.
So, now may very well be an appropriate time to share with you all what only two or three of you have known for these last four years, seven and a half months (thank you for your confidentiality): In January 2021, Brian Anderson offered me an opportunity to transition from posting on DCN to writing for DCN. For that, I will be forever grateful. That is when I took on the nom de guerre of Nathanael Greene, but I continued to post less frequently as LuvAMilitaryParade. So, whether you called me LAMP or LUV, I am one of you.
Thank you to each and every reader and to each and every poster for your friendship, your advice, and most of all your Patriotic partnership.
