Sanctuary states thought they could dump their problems on everyone else.
Florida just proved them dead wrong.
And sanctuary states are scrambling after Florida delivered one crushing blow that exposes their deadly agenda.
Florida puts sanctuary states on notice after deadly crash
Three innocent Americans are dead because California handed a commercial driver’s license to someone who couldn’t even read street signs.
Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant who entered through Mexico in 2018, made an illegal U-turn with his semi-truck on the Florida Turnpike on August 12.
A minivan slammed into his rig, killing a 54-year-old Miami man, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, and a 30-year-old man from Florida City.
Here’s the kicker – authorities say Singh failed an English proficiency test but somehow got commercial licenses in both California and Washington anyway.
Attorney General James Uthmeier isn’t letting this slide.
“If you can’t read street signs, how are you going to drive large commercial vehicles, 18-wheelers, tractor trailers in a safe manner?” Uthmeier asked during a Monday press conference at a highway inspection station.
Now Florida is hitting back hard at the sanctuary states that enabled this tragedy.
Florida launches immigration crackdown at truck inspection stations
Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson announced that Florida’s 23 agricultural inspection stations will start checking the immigration status of commercial drivers.
“If you come through these inspection stations and you are an illegal or breaking the law you will be handed over to our local or federal law enforcement partners,” Simpson declared.
Here’s what makes this brilliant – Florida already has nearly 300 agriculture department officers trained under the federal 287(g) program to enforce immigration law.
Simpson put it perfectly: “Ag Law is not just looking for agricultural bugs . . . we’re also looking for drugs and thugs.”
They’re adding a 24th station near the Alabama border and installing X-ray machines that can scan inside trucks as they pass through.
The timing couldn’t be better.
Just Sunday night, Florida authorities arrested another illegal immigrant – Roberto Carlos Vergara Cervantes from Ecuador – driving a commercial vehicle with a New Jersey license that wasn’t valid for commercial operation in Florida.
Uthmeier demands federal action against sanctuary states
But Florida isn’t stopping at enforcement.
Uthmeier fired off a letter to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy demanding the feds audit and potentially strip commercial driver’s license programs from California and Washington.
“The administrative and financial consequences attending to decertification would incentivize offending states to quickly bring themselves into compliance, making all American roadways safer,” Uthmeier wrote.
Think about what this means.
If the feds decertify these sanctuary states, they lose their ability to issue commercial licenses entirely.
No more California truckers with fake credentials endangering families across America.
Uthmeier also wants federal funding yanked from these rogue states until they comply with immigration law.
“People are fleeing ‘sanctuary states,’ where policymakers cater to criminals and illegal immigrants at the expense of law-abiding American citizens,” Uthmeier explained in his letter.
The bigger picture shows Florida leading Trump’s immigration agenda
Look, here’s what’s really happening.
Florida is showing every other red state exactly how to fight back against sanctuary state policies that endanger American families.
Governor Ron DeSantis has already opened the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center in the Everglades to process deportations.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended work visas for foreign truck drivers after the deadly crash.
This isn’t just about one tragic accident – it’s about a coordinated assault on the sanctuary state system that has been dumping dangerous illegal immigrants into communities across America for years.
“There’s no telling how many illegal aliens are in this country driving large commercial vehicles and putting American families in a safety risk every single day,” Uthmeier stated.
The numbers back this up.
Florida agriculture officers have already arrested or turned over nearly 150 undocumented immigrants in the past year alone.
Last week, state and federal officials apprehended nearly 200 people in just three days in the Florida Panhandle.
But here’s the part that should make you furious.
A Change.org petition demanding “fair sentencing” for Singh – the driver who caused the deaths of three Americans – has gathered nearly 3 million signatures.
Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins called this petition drive “ridiculous,” and he’s absolutely right.
Where’s the petition for the three Americans who died because California ignored federal law?
Florida is enforcing President Trump’s executive order requiring English proficiency for commercial drivers while sanctuary states actively undermine public safety.
“When it comes to fighting for President Trump, there’s no state like Florida, and there’s no leadership team like Gov. DeSantis in our cabinet,” Uthmeier said.
The message to sanctuary states is crystal clear: your days of endangering Americans with reckless immigration policies are over.
Other red states better take notes – this is how you fight back.
