Staff at a Fairfax County, Virginia, high school have been accused of arranging abortions for students and not telling their parents.
The accusation was made by two female Centreville High School students, both minors, to The W.C. Dispatch, a conservative investigative journalism blog run by investigative journalist Walter Curt.
A handwritten statement from one student, a 17-year-old girl, details how school social worker Carolina Díaz scheduled the abortion appointment, paid the required clinic fees, and swore the girl to secrecy.
“The girl, an 11th-grade ESOL student, says the abortion took place in November 2021—while she was still seventeen—making the concealment a straight-line violation of state law,” the Dispatch notes.
Virginia’s parental-notification law says girls under 18 seeking an abortion must notify and obtain consent from their parents.

And under Virginia Code § 16.1‑241 (V), a doctor must obtain written certification from at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor.
But it gets worse.
The other girl, five months pregnant and unsure whether or not to have the baby, was outright pressured by Diaz to have an abortion, with the social worker reportedly telling her she “had no other choice.”
“The girl, terrified, ultimately bolted from the clinic rather than go through with the procedure,” the Dispatch notes. “ She later confided in her teacher, Mrs. Zenaida Perz.”
The teacher, to her credit, got her and her family in touch with the Dispatch, after which school administrators reportedly tried to muzzle her — the teacher — using really twisted tactics.
“[S]chool administrators tried to muzzle her once she learned the truth—pressuring classmates to bait her into minor policy violations that could justify firing or force a quiet resignation,” the Dispatch notes.

What makes these two incidents even more concerning is that they were both “green‑lighted by Principal Chad Lehman” and financed “through school funds.”
“If even half of these claims prove accurate, someone at the county office is writing checks that violate both state law and every standard of parental authority we once took for granted,” according to the Dispatch.
Moreover, Curt notes at the Dispatch, “if two girls can name the same counselor, the same clinic, and the same pattern of coercion, what are the odds they are the only ones?”
The chances are very low, especially since Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) reportedly serves over 180,000 students.
Legal analysts whom Curt spoke with said that if it’s found to be true that school officials did indeed arrange and pay for the two aforementioned abortions, criminal and civil liabilities may be in play.

The good news is that FCPS has since confirmed to local station WJLA that an investigation has been launched into the two girls’ — and the teacher’s — claims.
“We learned yesterday of these concerning allegations from 2021,” the district said in a statement. “We are launching an immediate and comprehensive investigation as we take all concerns of student wellbeing very seriously.”
Asked by WJLA whether FCPS staff members had ever arranged abortions for students, the district replied with the following: “Not to [our] knowledge. We have launched an immediate investigation into these concerns as soon as we were made aware.”
WJLA also discovered that FCPS’ policy documents say nothing about the state’s required parental notification law.
Asked about the documents, FCPS only had this to say: “Students are referred to the public health nurse for any health-related matters. The public health nurses are Fairfax County Health Department employees.”
