That just might be the most contradictory title for a post that I’ve ever written! Before we continue, we are returning to my occasional theme of Unprovable TheoriesTM. What is an unprovable theory, and what’s the point if that’s the case, you may ask. To bring you up to speed, I explained the term three years ago when I was speculating about what happened to Howard Stern:
Unprovable Theory is a term I’ve coined for some not so crazy theories I have that I think are true, but freely admit that I have no evidence to support and most likely never will. Unlike conspiracy theories, I know that I have no proof, and if I were to see solid evidence disproving them I’d have no problem admitting that I was wrong. One example that comes to mind is my theory that Donald Trump destroyed the USFL back in the 80s as his hope of forcing a merger and backdooring his way into NFL ownership. In another theory, I also believe that Michael Moore wound up costing John Kerry the 2004 presidential election. While Moore did a great job of firing up the radicals in the base, I think that the Democrats’ making some anti-American sphincter muscle their party’s mascot probably turned off far more of the Normals than the number of Extremist votes he turned out. Remember the good old days when Democrats actually had to pretend to not hate America? Good times, good times. But back to my point, both of my theories have credibility, and both are completely unprovable (unless President Trump were to come out and say it, of course). And I have my own theory about Stern.
Now that we’ve gotten definitions out of the way, I’m going to take a slightly different route this time. Instead of building my case before revealing my grand theory, I’m going to tell you up front. Which makes sense, since the title of this post kind of gives the game away: I’m speculating that President Trump might be allowing the security of voting machines to drop so that the American people can see the potential for hacking and fraud, thus using public sentiment to force our electoral system back to the more secure, auditable paper ballots.
For starters, let’s look at some of the basics behind voting machines. Let’s begin by stopping calling them voting machines, and call them what they properly are – voting computers. If you click on the link it will take you to a two hour video. You only need to watch the first few minutes to get the point, but having watched the entire video I can vouch that it’s well worth your time. The bottom line is that computers can be hacked, and voting is too crucial a process to expose to such an obvious vulnerability. The 2020 HBO movie Kill Chain exposed the vulnerabilities of these computers. Back then, even The Radical Left claimed to be against these computers – the movie features prominent Democrats Amy Klobuchar, Mark Warner, Ron Wyden, and even undercover Democrat James Lankford. So we’ve now established that mistrust of voting computers is a bipartisan issue.
We also know that President Trump takes election security seriously. In an article from PBS, yes PBS, that tries to paint Trump negatively by focusing on one of the many seditionist lawsuits against his agenda by clearly stating Trump’s goals:
Trump’s executive order would require voters to show proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections, prohibit mail or absentee ballots from being counted if they are received after Election Day, set new rules for voting equipment and prohibit non-U.S. citizens from being able to donate in certain elections. It also would condition federal election grant funding on states adhering to the strict ballot deadline.
I know that paragraph was written to paint Trump as an extremist, but to anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders that summary was a breath of common sense. We also know that the threat of security breaches is real. One blog that I follow is the Rants of a Deranged Squirrel, one that focuses on cyber security, specifically as it pertains to CISA. For anyone unfamiliar, CISA stands for Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency. In layman’s terms, it’s the cybersecurity division under the Department of Homeland Security. Most of the folks reading this will only know CISA for stories via its former directors – Chris Krebs of the “Most secure election ever” infamy, or his successor, Jen Easterly’s censorship efforts. However malevolent these two stories may be, they don’t change the fact that CISA’s core mission – protecting America’s infrastructure from cyber threats, is a worthy one. While Deranged Squirrel’s blog is highly technical (even I don’t get most of it), his blog shows that there is real value in CISA’s stated mission.
As part of the DOGE-quake, President Trump has made significant cuts to CISA, and right of center outlets like PJ Media agree that cybersecurity is crucial to the US. So why would Trump allow this to happen?
In a general sense, I know that the federal government shops around for private sector alternatives to their own efforts. Not always, but it does happen – cyber security might be better handled outside of the purview of los federales. And more specifically, the same can be said of securing voting computers. Or should it?
And here is where we get to the “Why?” behind my latest Unprovable Theory. As that PBS article I mentioned, here is no shortage of articles about lawsuits from Marxist dominated states suing Trump over his election security efforts. Democrats are at least publicly claiming to value election security. So what happens if in the 2025 elections some election computers get hacked and hurt voter confidence in our elections? 2025 is one of those “off election” years where there are no Presidential or Congressional elections. For that matter, among the gubernatorial elections, the only states holding those races are Virginia and New Jersey. This means that the only major elections that Republicans stand to lose are NJ and VA. Jersey has reached the point where the closest thing to a Republican it can elect is Chris Christie. Virginia is a state that was once solidly Normal and is now purple/blue, mainly thanks to Democrats expanding the DC dormitory known as Northern Virginia to dominate the state. Between Leftist anger and Democrat money being carpet bombed over Virginia, Republicans will probably lose these two elections. And this brings us to the end of this point.
If the party faces two significant election losses anyway, why not use them to highlight vulnerabilities around election computers? Why not force the Dems to admit that voting computers pose a security threat in an election that XiNN and MS13-NBC will be trumpeting as the tide turning against the MAGA agenda? What do they do – suggest that Trump’s cuts to cybersecurity did not impact their tide turning victories and the cuts are OK? Or do Leftists say that cybersecurity cuts are catastrophic – just look at the 2025 results? Either way, Democrats are painted into the corner of sacrificing the legitimacy of two key elections (they won’t), or the legitimacy of the integrity of the voting machines they needed to win (they can’t)?
The bottom line is that do Democrats accept that Trump’s cuts to security for voting machines delegitimize their victories? Of course they can’t. So if this happens, Dems have to accept cuts to election security computers to transition to secure paper machines is now acceptable. A phrase I hate to hear from hardcore MAGAS is “Trump laying 4D chess!” I don’t automatically assume that every seemingly crazy move that Trump makes is some hidden brilliance. And I could be completely misreading this – the cuts to CISA may very well be as simple as overzealous, poorly thought out budget slashing.
Or maybe I’ve wayyyy overthought this – I’m just not sold on the notion that the deep cuts to CISA didn’t serve a greater purpose. Or I’m dead wrong, and they were just simple incompetence.
I’m leaning towards the former, but like any of my other Unprovable Theories, I’ll have no problem conceding if I’m proven wrong.
Was just reviewing what CISA was and found out they made a comic book. I hope people were chuckling about this turd when it came out: pic.twitter.com/zxPLXfR0bW
