According to the German portal Achse des Guten, the European Commission disbursed €17 billion between 2019 and 2023 to European NGOs and lobby groups, primarily leftist and green organizations.
These NGOs, often mislabeled as “non-governmental”, are contractually obligated to promote the EU’s agenda, targeting patriotic and sovereign governments, parties, and organizations both within and outside the EU through social, legal, “woke,” and political activities.
In June, the European Parliament established a task force to investigate and monitor NGO funding. Surprisingly, the pro-Atlanticist parties within the EPP, led by Manfred Weber and Ursula von der Leyen, supported this initiative alongside conservative groups like Meloni’s ECR, Orbán and Le Pen’s PfE, and the AfD-led sovereigntists.
This decision sparked outrage among communists, greens, pseudo-liberals, and other socialist ideologues.
But the task force lacks the power to halt this spending or prosecute those responsible for what critics call corrupt waste. Its role is limited to increasing transparency by exposing financial flows. While the 37,000 EU-funded NGOs are listed, details of their contractual obligations remain largely undisclosed.
The PfE has published a subsidy register, a step toward transparency, but further scrutiny is needed to detail how funds are allocated and who benefits.
With the EU’s 450 million citizens, the €17 billion equates to roughly €38 per person. For recipients, particularly those combating “right-wing” movements or advocating climate policies, this funding is substantial. Notably, the EU finances legal actions against itself, such as lawsuits from groups like Germany’s Deutsche Umwelthilfe challenging coal plants, pesticide use, car emissions, energy imports, and more.
EU funds also support causes like abortion rights, transgender privileges, arranged child marriages, urban mosque construction, open borders, leniency for leftist terrorists, and gender studies, while opposing traditional families, child protection, conservative opposition, and non-leftist voters.
The EU was founded to reduce trade barriers, ensure free movement, and promote transparency—not to monitor, harass, or ideologically control citizens. Europeans are increasingly concerned about funds supporting Islamization, including organizations that promote Sharia law and marginalize non-Muslims as “dhimmis.” Many reject this agenda.
Hungary, for instance, faces EU fines for resisting such policies, forcing sovereign nations to fund attacks on their own freedom and security.
The EU’s bureaucracy even resorts to electoral fraud to protect its vision of “democracy.” A single task force is insufficient to address this. Thousands of “useless” leftist NGOs, staffed by individuals uncompetitive in the job market, are sustained by these funds. To enact change, this wasteful spending must end, and a special prosecutor should investigate and hold accountable those exploiting the system. Mass arrests may be necessary in a functioning rule-of-law state.
Proposed laws to shield NGOs from “abusive” lawsuits, as reportedly demanded by the German government, would undermine accountability and hinder efforts to expose this misuse of taxpayer money.
