For years, Democrats put forward since-discredited allegations that President Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government during his 2016 campaign.
What’s more, a whistleblower claims to have been told by Obama administration figures to keep quiet about the fact that those claims were based on false information.
Gabbard praises “courageous whistleblower”
According to Breitbart, the whistleblower’s assertions were announced by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in a social media post on Thursday.
“Whistleblower reveals how they were threatened by a supervisor to go along with the Obama-directed Russia hoax ‘intelligence’ assessment, even though they knew it was not credible or accurate. The Whistleblower refused,” Gabbard wrote.

“Yesterday we released the Whistleblower’s firsthand account of what happened in the crafting of the January 2017 [Intelligence Community Assessment], their yearslong efforts to expose the egregious manipulation and manufacturing of intelligence carried out at the highest levels of government and the IC (detailed in our previous releases) and how they were repeatedly ignored,” she continued.
“Thank you to this courageous whistleblower, and others who are coming forward now, putting their own well-being on the line to defend our democratic republic, ensure the American people know the truth, and hold those responsible accountable,” the director of National Intelligence went on to add.
Whistleblower: officials knew Steele Dossier was unreliable
In a document made public this week, the whistleblower recalled rejecting the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which concluded that Russia preferred Trump to beat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
What’s more, the whistleblower asserted that Obama administration figures insisted on citing a document known as the Steele Dossier.
Compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, the dossier was later found to contain major inaccuracies, something the whistleblower said did not go unnoticed by the Obama White House.
“The whistleblower records also show how former DNI James Clapper and other senior Obama Administration officials privately denounced the Steele Dossier, despite simultaneously ensuring that the January 2017 ICA included it,” the document notes.
Gabbard: Obama “knowingly promoted falsehoods”
For her part, Gabbard declared in a press release that “President Obama directed the creation of Intelligence Community Assessment that knowingly promoted falsehoods claiming Russia helped President Trump get elected in 2016.”
“In doing so, the Obama Administration sought to delegitimize the 2016 election and President Trump’s presidency, subverting the will of the American people and enacting essentially a years-long coup against President Trump and the American people,” she continued.
Gabbard went on to maintain that “the American people are finally learning the truth about the dangerous consequences of weaponized intelligence.”
