Surveillance footage from a local Arkansas salon shows the moment 28-year-old Andrew James McGann was arrested mid-haircut in connection to the brutal double homicide at Devil’s Den State Park.
The video captures McGann calmly seated at Lupita’s Beauty Salon & Barber Shop on Wednesday, wearing a light blue polo and khaki pants. As officers from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) enter, they swiftly handcuff him and remove the barber cape draped over his shoulders.
McGann, who did not resist, was arrested at 4:57 p.m. and charged with two counts of capital murder. He is accused of killing Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, whose bodies were found on a hiking trail in Devil’s Den.
The couple’s daughters, ages 7 and 9, were unharmed and are now in the care of family members, authorities confirmed.
At a Thursday press conference, ASP Director Col. Mike Hagar said both victims died from stab wounds. A knife was identified as the murder weapon, and investigators said the daughters were not targeted in the attack.
“This appears to be a completely random event,” Hagar stated. “There was no known connection between the suspect and the victims.”
McGann reportedly sustained injuries during the murders, and blood at the scene played a key role in tracking him down.
Authorities say McGann confessed during his interview with investigators. “We confirmed this morning that his DNA is a positive match to evidence recovered at the crime scene,” Hagar said.
A search warrant executed at McGann’s home turned up additional items linked to the crime. He remains held without bond and is due back in court on August 25.
