America didn’t become the most prosperous, free, and powerful nation on Earth by accident. Our Founders laid out a revolutionary idea—that rights come from God, not government—and they built a system that empowered individuals to pursue excellence. That idea birthed the greatest nation in history. But now, as we near our 250th birthday, we’re forced to confront a bitter truth: socialism is on the march, and too many Americans have forgotten—or worse, rejected—what made this nation great in the first place.
A recent Cato Institute/YouGov survey revealed that 62% of Americans aged 18 to 29 have a favorable view of socialism. Even more disturbing, 34% view communism favorably. That’s not just a generational shift—it’s a national crisis. You don’t need a Ph.D. in history to know how socialism ends: in poverty, oppression, and ruined lives. From the Soviet Union to Venezuela, the evidence is overwhelming. Yet here we are, watching a new generation fall under the spell of Marxist pipe dreams.
The poster child for this delusion is none other than Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist who has become the Democratic Party’s top fundraiser. She’s pulled in over $15 million—more than double what House Speaker Mike Johnson has raised. And what is she selling? A slick repackaging of failed socialist policies wrapped in identity politics and class warfare.
I watched one of her recent speeches on YouTube. It was a masterclass in demagoguery. She didn’t speak to the strength of the American spirit. She didn’t challenge her audience to take responsibility or strive for greatness. Instead, she told them what every socialist tells the masses: that someone else is to blame for their problems, and that government has all the answers.
She even called the recently passed Big Beautiful Bill “one of the ugliest, scariest pieces of legislation to pass through Congress in modern American history.” That’s her take on a bill that, according to the left-leaning Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, stopped 80% of Americans from facing a tax hike next year. Without it, the average household would have paid $2,100 more in taxes. But facts don’t matter to the socialist left. All that matters is the narrative.
AOC also had the audacity to call Medicaid “one of the most cost-efficient public programs in American history.” Really? The Government Accountability Office reported over $100 billion in improper payments in Medicare and Medicaid in just one year—$51 billion from Medicaid alone in 2023. In her own backyard, New York State, up to 433,000 individuals were improperly enrolled in Medicaid between 2012 and 2017, with incomes above the legal limit. That’s not efficiency—that’s fraud, waste, and abuse.
But this isn’t just about AOC. Hardline socialists are now being nominated for mayoral races in cities like New York and Minneapolis. The Democrats are no longer hiding their agenda. They want government to control your healthcare, your paycheck, your kids’ education, and your speech. And if you dare to resist, they’ll shame and silence you.
Let’s be clear: the 2024 election was a turning point. Donald Trump’s victory was the American people standing up and saying, “Enough.” Enough of the lunacy, enough of the lies, and enough of the slow-motion suicide of the greatest nation on Earth.
But one election doesn’t fix everything. The cultural rot and ideological poison that allowed socialism to gain a foothold are still with us. If we’re going to save this country, we need to do more than win elections—we need to win hearts, minds, and classrooms. We need to teach our children the truth about American exceptionalism and the bankruptcy of socialism.
The Founders gave us a gift. We owe it to them—and to future generations—to fight for it. Freedom requires responsibility. Liberty demands vigilance. And America, as Ronald Reagan reminded us, is never more than one generation away from extinction.
So yes, the socialists are coming. But we’re ready. And we’re not backing down.
