New York City is about to become a disaster zone for law enforcement.
A radical leftist is the front-runner for mayor with an agenda that would make any cop’s blood run cold.
And Ron DeSantis dropped one warning about NYC that will have cops racing to Florida.
New York’s mayoral front-runner wants to replace cops with social workers
Governor Ron DeSantis addressed the 2025 Florida Sheriffs Association Summer Conference in Orlando on Tuesday, delivering a stark warning about what’s coming to New York City.
The mayoral campaign front-runner, Zohran Mamdani, represents everything that’s wrong with the Left’s approach to public safety.
DeSantis has called Mamdani a “communist” who could begin the “collapse of New York City” – and the Governor’s assessment hits the mark perfectly.
According to DeSantis, Mamdani wants to replace police with social workers and believes police shouldn’t go into dangerous areas.
“I think you’re going to end up at this conference next year, potentially, be talking about, hey, they elected some anti law enforcement mayor in New York City, and now all these NYPD cops want to come work in our agencies and get the $5,000 bonus,” DeSantis told the assembled sheriffs.

The timing of DeSantis’s warning couldn’t be more strategic.
New York City’s mayoral election represents a crossroads moment for American law enforcement – and DeSantis is positioning Florida as the safe haven for cops fleeing leftist insanity.
Florida offers everything New York denies police officers
DeSantis painted a vivid picture of what life looks like for police officers under radical Democrat leadership.
“I don’t know about you, but would you want to put on a uniform and go out and serve if the mayor doesn’t even think your agency should exist or get any funding at all, doesn’t think police should go in dangerous areas, that they should send social workers into there?” DeSantis said.
“That ain’t my cup of tea, and I don’t think anybody who wears the uniform thinks those policies will succeed.”
The contrast between Florida and New York couldn’t be starker.
While New York moves toward abolishing cash bail and defunding police departments, Florida has become America’s premier law-and-order state.
“We are squarely on the side of law-abiding peaceful citizens and we’re not going to let inmates run the asylum,” DeSantis declared.

Florida has implemented comprehensive law enforcement policies including anti-riot legislation, capital punishment for child predators, and animal cruelty registries.
DeSantis also highlighted Florida’s immigration enforcement through “Alligator Alcatraz,” the state’s immigration detention center in the Everglades where more than 100 people have been deported.
The $5,000 bonus DeSantis mentioned for incoming law enforcement officers sweetens the deal for cops looking to escape liberal hellholes.
The great police migration is already underway
DeSantis’s prediction about NYPD officers fleeing to Florida isn’t wishful thinking – it’s based on observable trends already happening across the country.
Law enforcement professionals are abandoning Democrat-controlled cities in droves as progressive prosecutors refuse to prosecute criminals and radical mayors slash police budgets.
“There’s movements to abolish cash bail and to defund the police percolating around the country. But they run into a roadblock with me as governor of Florida,” DeSantis explained.
The Governor positioned himself as “the head of the spear when it comes to stopping the anti-law enforcement movement around the country.”
Florida’s crime rates tell the story that matters most.
The state maintains historically low crime levels while Democrat-controlled cities see violent crime surge.
“Our policies have been strong. We nipped all of the jail-break legislation and proposals in the bud. And it never got traction in the state of Florida,” DeSantis noted.
The conference brought together 500 law enforcement professionals including sheriffs and their staff from across Florida.
DeSantis congratulated the assembled law enforcement leaders for maintaining Florida’s historically low crime rates.
The message was clear: Florida backs the badge while places like New York abandon law enforcement entirely.
When Mamdani wins in New York City, don’t be surprised to see NYPD officers packing their bags for the Sunshine State.
Florida offers what New York can’t – a government that actually supports law enforcement instead of treating cops like the enemy.
