Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) slipped up and tagged a Friday town hall in Myrtle Beach “Nancy Mace for Governor” even though she had not formally announced her plans to run–yet.
Mace had teased a big announcement on Monday, which was likely her intention to run for governor of South Carolina in 2026 when current Governor Henry McMaster’s (R) second term ends.
The webpage for the “Mother of all Town Halls” now reads “Nancy Mace for …”, but a screengrab shown on X reveals that it originally said “Nancy Mace for Gover” with the rest of the word cut off.
She hasn’t officially launched her South Carolina gubernatorial campaign – a “special announcement” is planned on Monday – but Rep. Nancy Mace’s upcoming Myrtle Beach town hall is being hosted by…
… Nancy Mace for Governor.

“Will confirm”
When reporters asked about the screen grab, Mace’s spokesperson only said, “Will confirm on Monday!”
It’s pretty much a dead giveaway about Mace’s intentions to throw her hat into the ring, which is sure to shake up the race quite a bit.
She had already hinted strongly at entering the race on Wednesday when she posted on X, “President Trump needs America First governors. South Carolina needs a fighter.”
Mace is known as a firebrand who is brash and outspoken about her views.
When the first openly transgender person, Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE), was elected to the House last year she began a crusade to codify bathroom use according to someone’s biological sex and was eventually successful in doing so.
Growing list
Due to term limits, McMaster cannot seek a third term, and there has been a flurry of candidates lining up to replace him.
Mace seems set to join the growing list of Republicans who have entered the gubernatorial race more than 15 months out from election day.
According to Ballotpedia, Pamela Evette, Josh Kimbrell, Ralph Norman, and Alan Wilson are already Republican candidates for governor, but none of them has a fraction of the name recognition that Mace does.
She’s bound to jump to the front of the candidate list, and it should be pretty easy to win the race in this solidly Republican state.
Should be an easy step up for Mace, who has shown by her tenure in the House that she can grab attention on a national level even when some of her views are quite controversial.
